He was an actor and writer, known for Why Girls Go Back Home (1926), Great Expectations (1917) and The Golden Wedding (1913). He was married to Mabel Trunnelle. He died on October 3, 1954 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

  • Remained active in films well past his prime in character roles throughout the rest of the silent era and became a bit player and extra in talkies until his retirement in 1934.
  • The British born actor (Oxford, England) and wife Mabel appeared together in scores of films and were considered Hollywood's preeminent movie twosome until eclipsed by star couple Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks.
  • Charming, distinguished-looking pioneer actor of Edison silents who began freelancing in movies in 1907, signing with Edison in 1909. He and wife Mabel left the Edison fold briefly to join Majestic Studios but returned in 1912.
  • Met and married Mabel Trunnelle while both were acting in stock shows shortly after the turn of the century.
  • A member of the early Edison Stock Company and of D.W. Griffith's stock company, he later joined the Biograph Company. He appeared a number of times with his wife Mabel, and played in several films during the 1920s, retiring in 1934.
