Billions showcases the ultra-wealthy elite of Wall Street's high finance world, delving into their cutthroat competition and lavish lives. Characters like Ben Kim, Wendy Rhoades, and Dollar Bill make millions, showcasing the diverse financial journeys depicted on the show. From the $9 billion net worth of Bobby Axelrod to Grigor Andolov's $10-20 billion fortune, Billions explores wealth, power, and consequences.
Showtime's hit financial drama Billions finished its storylines with seven seasons. Loosely based on real-life people who successfully navigate Wall Street and the sector of high finance, the show provides glimpses into the cutthroat competition among hedge fund managers, U.S. lawyers, and the lavish lifestyles of the ultra-wealthy one-percenters who run America. The series plays as a tense drama as Paul Giamatti plays the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Chuck Roades, who goes after hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod.

Damien Lewis left Billions after five seasons, impacting season 6 and changing the direction of the show. Bobby Axelrod's story wasn't finished as he returns in season 7. Lewis' departure aligned with the end of his contract and his desire to spend more time with his family in England. The decision was part of a long-standing plan. Billions faced challenges in season 6 with negative reviews and a loss of what made the show compelling after Lewis' departure. However, Lewis returned for season 7 to tie up his storylines.
In 2021, many fans wondered why Damien Lewis left Billions, with his character of Bobby Axelrod exiting the series after five seasons. His departure ended up significantly impacting season 6 and changed everything about the show from that point on. Prior to the change, Bobby Axelrod, the self-made billionaire hedge fund manager from Yonkers, and Chuck Rhoades, the justice-at-all-costs-seeking U.S. Attorney, butt heads time and...

The final season of Billions took a refreshing twist by introducing a new adversary and bringing former rivals together as allies, opting for a more measured and surprisingly sweet conclusion instead of a dramatic showdown. Paul Giamatti, playing as Chuck Rhoades, voiced his thoughts about the series finale as the last episode's surprising shift from potential conflict to a layered resolution captivated him, highlighting the show's dynamic storytelling. While Billions concludes its run, the success of the show has led to the development of spinoffs that aim to explore the world of financial tycoons and rising stars in greater depth, ensuring that the legacy of the show will continue.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for “Admirals Fund,” the series finale of “Billions,” now streaming on Paramount+.
“Billions” ends where it began. At the close of “Admirals Fund,” the series finale of the Showtime drama series, Bobby Axelrod is scheming once again to make a new fortune with his merry band of alpha-male traders, who are revved up by his leadership to kill in the name of capitalism.
The closing segment of “Billions” was unabashedly designed to appeal to fans of the sudsy drama, which turns on the crazier-than-fiction tales of hedge fund managers and traders. Axelrod, played with gusto until the final frame by Damian Lewis, winds up on top. His most recent foil, rival trader/investor Michael Prince (Corey Stoll), has been defeated, publicly humiliated — although he is destined to rise again. “As it has ever been for men like you over the centuries,” Prince’s loyal...

Damian Lewis' return to Billions for its final season is a necessary and poetic move, as he has been a fan-favorite character since the beginning and his absence was felt by audiences. Lewis' return will wrap up Bobby Axelrod's narrative and provide clarity on his whereabouts since season 5. It will also add more twists to the drama and increase the stakes for the other characters. Lewis will appear in six of 12 episodes in season 7, indicating that other cast members will have prominent roles. Vengeance seems to be the driving force behind Bobby's return.
Band of Brothers and Homeland star Damian Lewis exited the Showtime drama Billions right after the fifth season. A main cast member for the first five outings, Lewis starred as Robert “Bobby” Axelrod, an overzealous billionaire and hedge fund manager who draws the ire of Paul Giammati’s U.S. Attorney Charles “Chuck” Rhoades. With Michael Prince potentially caught in the crosshairs, the nail-biting Showtime drama returned for its seventh— and final — season on August 11. Billions series co-creators Brian Koppelman, David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin have drawn inspiration from Steve A. Cohen, Elon Musk and other famous billionaires to create their powerful and morally bankrupt cast of characters. Since the series premiere in 2016, audiences have followed former US attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) in his quest to bring these self-serving titans of industry to justice.

Who is mean enough to kill Hollywood Nice Guy Paul Rudd? That’s the question that drives the third season of “Only Murders in the Building,” Hulu’s critically acclaimed comedy starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez as a trio of unlikely friends who live in the same New York City apartment building and come together to solve the surprisingly high number of murders that occur within it.
The show, created by Martin and John Hoffman, returned this week with two episodes, just in time for the start of Emmy voting. In addition to Rudd as Ben Glenroy, a Hollywood actor murdered on opening night of his Broadway debut, new additions to the already impressive cast include Meryl Streep, who portrays a struggling actress; Jesse Williams, a filmmaker who is making a documentary about Ben when he dies; and Ashley Park, a hopeful young actress and social media influencer.

Billions has always explored the one percent's relationship with the rest of the world in a way most people have never considered.
It has shown how having staggering amounts of money can render some people above the law because, in a predominantly capitalistic world, those with a lot of money have a millennium's worth of a head start over others.
But most of what we saw throughout the six seasons seemed a little out of the realm of possibility since the first time we were coming alive to the facts presented was through dramatization.
It all became too real when Mike Prince's plan was revealed in the Billions Season 6 finale. It felt eerily familiar that a billionaire who overestimated himself thought he was the solution to the common person's problem and would do anything to prove it. Anything.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Billions Season 7 premiere “Tower of London.”] The road to the end of Billions has begun with the start of its seventh and final season, which brings Damian Lewis back as Bobby “Axe” Axelrod for one last showdown. Axe did not give up his business empire easily. At the end of Season 5 of Showtime’s Wall Street thriller, a two-pronged attack drove him from New York City to Switzerland, turning him from a swaggering master of the universe into a financial fugitive. New York State Attorney General Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) falsely accused him of money-laundering charges. Meanwhile, his billionaire nemesis, Michael Prince (Corey Stoll), took advantage of the situation to acquire Axelrod’s assets below price. However, despite the setbacks, Axe has made a strong comeback with his charismatic and cutthroat demeanor still intact as he reenters the ring. At the end of the Season 7 premiere, we see Wendy Rhoades...

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] Former hedge fund mogul Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Damian Lewis) did not give up his business empire easily. At the end of Season 5 of Showtime’s Wall Street thriller Billions, it took a two-pronged attack to drive Axe from New York City to Switzerland, turning him from a swaggering master of the universe into a financial fugitive. New York State Attorney General Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) had him on trumped-up money-laundering charges, and billionaire nemesis Michael Prince (Corey Stoll) bought Axelrod’s huge assets way below market price. But now Axe has reentered the ring for this seventh and final season, his charming, ruthless confidence intact. “Bobby wants back in the game,” says Lewis. On a show that is legendary for its betrayals, double-crosses and very flexible alliances, the possibilities of who ...

Showtime is looking to expand the Billions universe through a multitude of spinoff series, including two series titled Millions and Trillions. Billions is currently the most senior drama program running on Showtime, with season 7 of the finance-based drama set to air sometime in the future. While season 1 through season 5 focused on U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades' legal feuds with billionaire hedge fund manager Bobby "Axe" Axelrod, season 6 saw newcomer Michael Prince become Rhoades' new enemy. The series has received praise for Paul Giamatti, Damien Lewis, and Corey Stoll's performances, as well as queer representation through Asia Kate Dillion's non-binary character Taylor Mason.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Showtime has plans to expand the Billions franchise with multiple upcoming spinoff shows, including Millions and Trillions. While specific details of each show are unknown, Millions will follow young, up-and-coming financiers, while Trillions will focus on the richest people in the world.

Being on the set of “Billions” always keep you on your toes.
After playing the perky and hedonistic fan favorite Mike “Wags” Wagner for six seasons on the Showtime, David Costabile knows that better than just about anyone.
“There’s a responsibility that you have to the rest of the company to help them focus. If somebody starts fucking around, then everybody wants to start fucking around. There’s a time and a place for it, and there’s plenty of fucking around that we do. It’s just not when the cameras are rolling,” Costabile said.
That company now includes Daniel Breaker, who joined the “Billions” cast last season as ideal Wags foil Roger “Scooter” Dunbar, the second-in-command for Corey Stoll’s squeaky clean-seeming billionaire Michael Prince. Breaker came to the show with a strong stage pedigree, including three-year runs on both “The Book of Mormon” and “Hamilton.” Following...

In order for Chuck to beat Prince on Showtime’s financial drama Billions, he had to change both the way he played the game and the game he was playing.
And that’s exactly what he did on Sunday’s installment, titled “Hostis Humani Generis.” The latter is a legal term that basically means pirates and outlaws are beyond legal protection and therefore subject to the laws of whatever jurisdiction they are in. In other words, it’s a fancy way of saying the one percenters that Chuck has been railing against all season long, especially Prince, fall under the...

Peloton is none-too-pleased with its recent depiction on a premium cable series. On Sunday night’s “Billions,” Mike Wagner aka Wags (David Costabile) suffers a mild heart-attack while riding a Peloton bike. Sound familiar? The same thing — minus the “mild” part — happened to Mr. Big (Chris Noth) on “Sex and the City” sequel series “And Just Like That…”
Unlike Big, Wags did not die. The Showtime character did, however, acknowledge the HBO Max tragedy.
“I’m not going out like Mr. Big,” Wags said on last night’s “Billions.”
Universes crossed!
A person with knowledge of production told TheWrap the “Billions” scene was written and shot in Spring 2021. Producers later added in the line referencing Mr. Big, we’re told.
Anyway, Peloton is not cool with this particular usage.

Everyone’s a little off their game in Season 5 of “Billions,” the no-holds-barred financial drama that once transcended its more ludicrous deliverables by sweetening the deal with big thrills and sharp fangs. Squandering much of the good will built up by its rip-roaring first four seasons, so far Season 5 is off to a disjointed and rocky start. With Axe (Damian Lewis) and Chuck (Paul Giamatti) back at odds after temporarily making peace, “Billions” seems stuck in neutral. The first three episodes have provided some of the bark but way less of the bite that made early “Billions” the down-and-dirty joy ride it once was. “Beg, Bribe, Bully” may seal the show’s fate as officially over the hill.
The episode opens with little ginger Gordie Axelrod (Jack Gore) making his daddy proud by designing and launching his own bitcoin farm out of his prep school dormitory, promptly shutting down power to the entire town.
