When auditioning for the role of a younger Haymitch in the upcoming Hunger Games prequel film, Sunrise on the Reaping, Joseph Zada had some competition.

In an interview with People magazine, Zada’s We Were Liars costar Emily Alyn Lind recalled talking to him when he was auditioning for the coveted role.

“So, I was FaceTiming him because he was like, ‘I’m in L.A.’ And I’m like, ‘What are you doing in L.A., loser? Let’s hang out,’ ” Emily Alyn Lind said. “And I FaceTime him and he is at this hotel and he’s being Joe. And he’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m out here. You can’t tell anyone but it’s down to me and a couple [other] people for this Hunger Games thing.’”

Cabaret will end its New York run Oct. 19 after about 14 months on Broadway.

The closing notice comes after the production undertook a large-scale remodeling of the August Wilson Theatre and has mounted a costly, immersive production, with reports of the show being capitalized for up to $24 million. With the early closing notice, and bumpy grosses throughout its run, the show will likely exit Broadway without recouping.

In the final 13 weeks of the run, Billy Porter will take over as the Emcee and Marisha Wallace will take over as Sally Bowles starting July 22. The two reprise the roles they played in the production in London’s West End.

Broadway’s Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club will close on Sunday, October 19, producers announced today, ending a 14-month run that was spotty at the box office and almost certainly will leave investors short from recouping the revival’s estimated $23 million-plus costs.

The 55-year-old singer and actor will star as Albin in an all-Black production of La Cage Aux Folles at New York City Center. The show will be the fourth production of New York City Center’s 2026 Encores! series, which revisits American musicals with limited runs. The nostalgic, coming-of-age story marks the feature directorial debut of Argentinian actor Juan Pablo Di Pace, and Andrés Pepe Estrada, who is best known as an award-winning editor on films such as Argentina, 1985 and Upon Open Sky).

Di Pace stars as man looking back on the moments that shaped him, returning to memories of his student days in 1990s Italy, to rediscover the friendships, heartbreaks, and quiet triumphs of youth. As the line between past and present begins to blur, he understands that growing up never truly ends, and that looking back can be the only way to move forward.

Today, the official Big Mouth Twitter account shared a teaser image for Mating Season featuring four smiling critters with suspicious smiles, dead-eye stares, and come-hither grimaces.

According to reports, Mating Season is a romantic comedy exploring relationships from an animal’s point of view. The new show, launching in 2026, revolves around “a cast of bears, raccoons, deer, foxes and a host of other horny, lovable forest critters, as they navigate love, sexual relationships and the universal need to hook up and find a partner.”
