When auditioning for the role of a younger Haymitch in the upcoming Hunger Games prequel film, Sunrise on the Reaping, Joseph Zada had some competition.
In an interview with People magazine, Zada’s We Were Liars costar Emily Alyn Lind recalled talking to him when he was auditioning for the coveted role.
“So, I was FaceTiming him because he was like, ‘I’m in L.A.’ And I’m like, ‘What are you doing in L.A., loser? Let’s hang out,’ ” Emily Alyn Lind said. “And I FaceTime him and he is at this hotel and he’s being Joe. And he’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m out here. You can’t tell anyone but it’s down to me and a couple [other] people for this Hunger Games thing.’”

Watch Broadway's next Sally Bowles, Marisha Wallace, singing "Maybe This Time" from the beloved Kander & Ebb musical. Wallace will be joining the hit Broadway musical, alongside Billy Porter as the Emcee, on Tuesday, July 22 for the production’s final 13 weeks through Sunday, October 19. She previously performed the role in the West End. Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club’s 14-month run on Broadway has coincided with a wave of domestic and global events—including the rise of authoritarian forces both abroad and here at home—that have only underscored the musical’s enduring power as both entertainment and warning. The song is featured on a new live album that Wallace will be releasing this summer. Set for release on August 15, the album features tracks from...

Cabaret will end its New York run Oct. 19 after about 14 months on Broadway.
The closing notice comes after the production undertook a large-scale remodeling of the August Wilson Theatre and has mounted a costly, immersive production, with reports of the show being capitalized for up to $24 million. With the early closing notice, and bumpy grosses throughout its run, the show will likely exit Broadway without recouping.
In the final 13 weeks of the run, Billy Porter will take over as the Emcee and Marisha Wallace will take over as Sally Bowles starting July 22. The two reprise the roles they played in the production in London’s West End.
The musical opened on Broadway in April 2024, starring Gayle Rankin and Eddie Redmayne, who first played the role in the West End. Since then, the production has brought in several big-name replacements, including Adam Lambert and Auli’i Cravalho and Orville Peck and Eva Noblezada,...

Broadway’s Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club will close on Sunday, October 19, producers announced today, ending a 14-month run that was spotty at the box office and almost certainly will leave investors short from recouping the revival’s estimated $23 million-plus costs.
Also today, producers announced that Billy Porter and Marisha Wallace will be the show’s final Emcee and Sally Bowles, with the two actors taking over the roles on Tuesday, July 22.
Producers have not revealed or confirmed the show’s capitalization amount or whether the show has recouped or is expected to recoup.

Glenn Close and Billy Porter have joined the star-studded cast of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the upcoming film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' bestselling novel of the same name. The ensemble has been growing at a rapid rate, as the prequel continues to introduce more characters from the page to the screen, and now there are two more in the mix. Close will play Drusilla Sickle, the cruel escort to the District 12 Tributes, while Porter stars as Magno Stift, her estranged husband and the Tributes' uninspired designer.
Throughout her storied acting career on stage and screen, Close, an eight-time Oscar nominee, has become known for portraying iconic villains and complex characters who demand authority, particularly Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction and Cruella de Vil in Disney's live-action remake of 101 Dalmatians, which should serve her well in bringing Drusilla to life, as she is just as mean-spirited and twisted as the others.

Yetta Kane, a 92-year-old Holocaust survivor, steps onto the set of a Hollywood photoshoot. It’s August 2023 and sticky hot in Los Angeles. Kane is dressed in a knee-length skirt and matching jacket, a Star of David pendant affixed to her lapel. Her hair is a sweeping crest of pale blonde, her eyes the same hue as the cloudless L.A. sky. Kane’s granddaughter, Emily Kane Miller, pregnant with her third child, is also in tow, and they take a seat in the studio’s waiting area. Yetta opens her purse, pulls out a make-up compact and applies lipstick, and it’s at that moment I think back to a conversation I’d once had with another Holocaust survivor decades earlier.

To quote Nick Kroll’s Maury, “It’s the end of a very gross era.” “Big Mouth” dropped the trailer for its eighth and final season on Wednesday, and it’s just as upsetting and surprisingly sweet as this raunchy animated comedy has always been. The longest-running scripted Netflix original will premiere on May 23.
“Do you schmucks even know why you go through puberty?” Natasha Lyonne asks as a sassy new teacher. The video then cuts to a series of embarrassing scenes, from Missy (Ayo Edebiri) accidentally farting on another student’s lunch to Jessi (Jessi Klein) panicking about her Pms.
