Spoiler Alert: This post contains details of the final episode of Max’s Beleza Fatal.
After 40 episodes, Beleza Fatal (Scars of Beauty) ended, and viewers finally found out what happened to Lola (Camila Pitanga), Sofía (Camila Queiroz), and Elvirinha (Giovanna Antonelli).
Max Brazil’s first telenovela didn’t have a happy ending for its lead characters, as is customary in the genre.
The lead question in the episode was about who killed Benjamin Argentino (Caio Blat). A woman with a head scarf and oversized shades ended Benjamin’s life, and all signs pointed to Lola. However, she denied being the culprit of the murder and was visibly devastated over her husband’s death.
Before viewers find out who killed Benjamin, we find out what happens to the rest of the characters.
With Benjamin’s death, Gisela (Julia Stockler) and Carol (Manu Morelli) inherit the Argento hospital and rename it after...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details of the latest episode drop of Max’s Beleza Fatal.
Max produced its first Brazilian telenovela with Beleza Fatal, known in English as Scars of Beauty. For its series finale, it borrowed from the classic whodunit plotline to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
The streamer has been releasing five episodes every Monday since its premiere on January 27. However, the final drop on Monday, March 17, was only four episodes, leaving the grand finale to premiere on Friday, March 21, at 4 p.m. Pt and 7 p.m. Et.
In the era of streaming, with everyone watching at their most convenient time, leaving the last episode to premiere at a specific time allows viewers to catch up and turns the finale into an event.
Social media has been abuzz with the series, with viewers creating memes of Camila Pitanga’s extravagant and quotable Lola, the main villain of the telenovela.

L.A.-based, Brazilian filmmaker Carlos Saldanha, director of “Ice Age” and “Rio” franchise movies and creator of Netflix series “Invisible City,” is joining forces with Brazil’s outfit Ventre Studio and Warner Bros. Pictures to co-create and direct superhero feature project “Iemanjá – Ocean’s Goddess.”
“Iemanjá” is planned as the first movie in a series that transports the Brazil’s Candomblé gods to a superhero universe, being a pioneering Brazilian production of this genre.
Following a crucial theme in Brazilian culture, “Iemanjá – Ocean’s Goddess” will tell the story of Iemanjá, an Orixá or goddess adored by the Brazilian people and also known as the Queen of the Sea. With Ogum, the King of War, as her mentor, Iemanjá, who has psychic abilities, battles with Iansã, an Orixá worshiped as the Storm Goddess.
“Iemanjá is a symbol to all Brazilian people, independently of the religion or faith of each one of us.

Miami — Announcing at Natpe one of its first big new deals, Brazil’s Globo Studios has confirmed the sale of Globoplay exclusive series “Harassment” to Mega, Chile’s broadcast network audience leader.
The deal, clinched by Globo’s Raphael Correa, comes as “Harassment,” which was released by Globo streaming service Globoplay, has just been selected for the Berlin Festival’s prestigious Drama Series Days Market Screenings.
Both developments – the Mega sale; Berlin selection – will serve to highlight “Harassment,” a real life inspired story in the line of Globo’s social-issue limited series – think “Jailers,” “Under Pressure” – portraying how a group of women band together to denounce a renowned physician’s sexual assaults.
“The story only happens because the leads are women with desires, vulnerabilities, and above all else, strength that is essentially feminine,” said lead writer Maria Camargo.

Here's an trailer update for an intriguing new animated feature film I first profiled in April. Directed by Luiz Bolognesi, and titled Rio 2096, A Story of Love and Fury, the animated film tells the story of Brazil in 4 phases: colonization, slavery, military regime, and then looks to the future, in 2096, during which a war for water is taking place. Promising a history of Brazil that you've never seen told quite like this, central to the narrative is an immortal hero's search for the woman he has been in love with for 600 years. Targeting both youngsters and adults alike with a graphic novel slant to it, the film stars the voice talents of Selton Mello, Camila Pitanga,...
