  • Was a pre-med student before deciding to go into acting.
  • Born in New York City but raised in Scarsdale, New York, the son of a patent attorney.
  • Appeared on commercials for Priceline.com with William Shatner. His son, Chris Pine, succeeded Shatner as Captain Kirk in Star Trek. Robert has also done voice over work for Star Wars video games.
  • Graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University.
  • He is of German (where three of his great-grandparents were born) and English descent.
  • First under contract to Universal from May 1964 through April 1967 and earned his stripes in such series as Match contre la vie (1965) and Le Virginien (1962).
  • Appeared in Star Trek: Voyager in 1996, and in Star Trek: Enterprise in 2002, before his own son Chris Pine, became captain of the Enterprise in the film prequel of Star Trek, in 2009.
  • Son-in-law of Anne Gwynne and Max M. Gilford
  • Member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.
  • He talks about the making of L'Empire des fourmis géantes (1977) in the book "A Sci-Fi Swarm and Horror Horde" (McFarland & Co., 2010) by Tom Weaver.
