Mike Phirman

This 'Ghostbusters'-'Return of the Jedi' mashup is the perfect viral video
Every once in awhile the perfect viral video rears its glorious head, and today we've got the newest addition to that esteemed canon: this deliriously perfect Ghostbusters-Return of the Jedi mashup by YouTuber Mike Phirman. What would happen if Luke Skywalker encountered the wisecracking supernatural exterminators? It's a straightforward premise that works extraordinarily well, and it's bound to make more than a few viewers ask themselves the oft-echoed question: why didn't I think of that? But the truth is, making a seemingly-easy connection between two distinct entities like this takes a special kind of brain, and Mike Phirman is clearly a genius in the art of the mashup. Enjoy. Awkward Star Wars Cantina Karaoke With Billy Dee Williams
I've seen some ludicrously funny things in my day, but this is really a piece of work. This is just one of those things you have to experience to believe.

I guess the video is an ad for Samsung's Galaxy S4, and it features Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) hitting up Karaoke Night at the Cantina on Tatooine. Lando performs a embarrassingly bad rendition of Jason Schwartzman's song, "West Coast."

The video also features appearances by Schwartzman, Patton Oswalt, Carrie Keagan, Chris Hardwick, and Mike Phirman. Check the weirdness out. ...

Cool Videos: Star Wars Cantina karaoke with Billy Dee Williams, Patton Oswalt and Jason Schwartzman
Who knew Lando had such a lovely singing voice? This video was made to help raise awareness for the charity Course of the Force (they do fundraising for Make-a-Wish) and it features Billy Dee Williams singing the song "West Coast" in the famous Cantina bar on Tatooine from Star Wars. Pretty fun stuff, considering there's also appearances by Patton Oswalt, Jason Schwartzman, Carrie Keagan, Chris Hardwick and Mike Phirman. It's always great to find a video like...

Paul & Storm To Continue YouTube’s Puppet Fad On Geek And Sundry
Nerdist has slowly become YouTube's go-to channel for puppet humor thanks to the Neil's Puppet Dreams web series and a smattering of one-off collaboration's with The Henson Foundation's Muppets. However, a long-awaited series on Geek And Sundry will help Felicia Day's YouTube Original Channel challenge Nerdist for the title of 'most puppet friendly channel on the Internet.' The series is called LearningTown, and it stars Paul & Storm, a notable musical duo whose quirky songs have appeared on Geek and Sundry in the past. The series will, in similar fashion to Neil's Puppet Dreams, feature a mix of live action and adult-themed puppet humor, as the leading pair attempt to resurrect their favorite TV show. Paul & Storm's list of celebrity connections gives us a good idea of the appearances we can expect in LearningTown: Mike Phirman, a frequent collaborator with Chris Hardwick and Nerdist, appears briefly in the show's trailer,...

Chris Hardwick Stops Pedophiles And Sings About Having ‘Gersberms’
Chris Hardwick has been a busy man this week. The Nerdist founder has taken time out of his full schedule (which seems to consist entirely of bowling and podcasting outings) to appear in a couple of offbeat videos. To start things off, Hardwick made a guest appearance on Waco Valley, the animated series on Above Average. In a happy marriage of two of my favorite entries in the YouTube Original Channels Initiative, Hardwick plays a zealous lifeguard who prevents the series' main character, dinosaur newscaster Lon Johnson, from molesting a child. Hopefully the next step Nerdist/Above Average will be guest appearance by Michael Che (in character, of course) on Neil DeGrasse Tyson's Star Talk. Hardwick, however, isn't simply lending his services to other channels. He's also getting busy on Nerdist with a new single, 'Gersberms', which celebrates the Ermahgerd meme and its glorious mispronunciations. Hardwick performed the song...

Morning Meme: New "Dr. Horrible" Is Coming, Kate Moss Is "Absolutely Fabulous," and James Van Der Beek Prepares For the Role Of His Lifetime
Joss Whedon says out wait for a new Dr. Horrible is almost over. They have a number of songs written, and an entire outline done. Now it's down to scheduling, which Neil Patrick Harris is the complicated part of, but they think this summer should allow them to film. Neil's latest question is how long they'd need.

Steve Levitan says that even if it was an option, he wouldn't take Modern Family to cable with a shorter season because the kids are growing up so fast. “They’re growing. We tried to stop it and it’s not working. For that reason alone, we want to get as many stories in as we can while they’re going through these years. So we’re going to try to maintain this pace for as long as we can.” Added Levitan: “The greatest stories we hear are from gay teens that never...

Blu-ray Review: ‘The Haunted World of El Superbeasto’
The Movie:

It took years for Rob Zombie to get his animated vision of a Lucha Libre wrestling superstar who battles evil in a world of monsters from head to screen. Being a fan of Zombie’s work (I dug what he had to offer in ‘House of 1000 Corpses’ and ‘The Devil’s Rejects,’ was mildly entertained by ‘Halloween,’ and ended up being one of about four people who really liked ‘Halloween II’), I was curious to see what he had to offer to the world of animation. I’ve seen the music videos he’s hand-drawn and his albums offer some of the craziest, most curiously twisted artwork around. Unfortunately, while ‘The Haunted World of El Superbeasto’ has a lot to offer to the world of flashy and morbid animation, it fails so miserably in every, other area.

El Superbeasto, voiced by co-writer Tom Papa, is a masked...

Sneak Peek at El Superbeasto
It's been a while since we've heard anything new regarding The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, but today gossip site Defamer of all places boasts of having been provided "a sneak peek at the first footage ever shown of Rob Zombie's upcoming, decidedly R-rated animated film."

During last night's screening of Ucb Theatre's Halloween edition of "Comedy Death Ray", comedians Chris Hardwick and Mike Phirman (who have recorded songs for El Superbeasto under the name Hard & Phirm) unveiled some rough footage of two sequences that Zombie sent them to show the audience. I'll let Defamer's Kyle Buchanan explain what they saw:

"In the first, buxom blonde Suzi-x (voiced by Sheri Moon Zombie) battles a rampaging horde of zombie Nazis due to the fact that is a Rob Zombie film. There's plenty of blood, gore, and cleavage, but the real R-rated stuff was saved for the second sequence. That's when...
