Fans Pitch Dream Roles for Matthew Lillard in James Gunn's Dcu
Image
DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn recently shared a group photo on Instagram that included several DC Universe stars, including rumored Booster Gold actor Kumail Nanjiani. Scooby-Doo star Matthew Lillard, the current voice actor for Shaggy, was also part of the photo, prompting the DC fandom to discuss online which characters they'd like to see Lillard play in the Dcu.

On the social media platform X, many DC fans stated that Lillard would be a great choice for either Plastic Man (who the actor was nearly cast to play in the early 2000s) or Ambush Bug. Some also shared that they'd like to see him as Booster Gold, a superhero that Nanjiani is rumored to have been cast to play in the upcoming Dcu series of the same name. Martian Manhunter, Doctor Light, Ted Kord/Blue Beetle, and The Question were other superheroes that fans threw out on social media.

Bruce Campbell Remembers Spider-Man Co-Star Randy Savage
Image
Late pro wrestling legend Randy Savage had kind things to say about Bruce Campbell after working with the actor in Spider-Man. With the clip resurfacing on social media, Campbell paid back the kindness.

In Sam Raimi's first Spider-Man movie, which introduced Tobey Maguire in the titular role, Campbell appeared as a pro wrestling organization's ring announcer. Savage also had a guest role as Bonesaw McGraw, a pro wrestler who Maguire's Peter Parker must fight in the ring. A resurfaced clip on X saw Savage praising Campbell before bestowing him the pro-wrestling-like nickname of "Beautiful" Bruce Campbell. After watching the clip on X, Campbell said he felt the same way about the one they call the "Macho Man."

You were beautiful too, Randy. https://t.co/diOwDtIbBY Bruce Campbell (@GroovyBruce) June 23, 2024

How Vince McMahon Got Tko’d
Image
When Vince McMahon stepped into the New York Stock Exchange on Jan. 23, he was on hand to celebrate what was supposed to be a triumph for Tko Group Holdings, the company for which he was executive chairman, and the owner of the WWE, the wrestling promotion that McMahon turned into a multibillion-dollar business.

Earlier that morning the WWE announced a blockbuster 10-year, $5 billion deal with Netflix to stream Raw in the U.S. and almost all of its other live programming in other markets around the world. And Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, one of the WWE’s biggest stars — turned global movie star — was set to ring the opening bell, in connection with an agreement to join Tko’s board of directors.

Speaking to attendees in the NYSE’s ornate 6th floor board room that morning, Johnson accepted a gold Tko championship belt from McMahon and Tko CEO Ari Emanuel.

After Vince McMahon Exit From WWE Parent Tko Group, Slim Jim Resumes Sponsorship Of Pro Wrestling Outfit – Update
Image
Updated with sponsorship resumption. Slim Jim has resumed its WWE sponsorship following the exit of Vince McMahon from his executive role at the wrestling outfit’s parent company, the Endeavor-controlled Tko Group Holdings.

The Conagra Brands jerky maker, which has been affiliated with pro wrestling since the 1980s, will now officially be part of this weekend’s Royal Rumble in Florida. It had paused its sponsorship Friday in the wake of what it called “disturbing allegations” in a lawsuit filed against McMahon by a former employee. The suit catalogs in vivid detail a number of accusations, including sex trafficking, battery and sexual assault.

“After the departure of Vince McMahon, and discussions with WWE Tko senior leadership, Slim Jim has decided to re-enter the Royal Rumble,” the company said Saturday in a statement provided to Deadline.

WWE Founder Vince McMahon Resigns Following Sex Assault Suit
Vince McMahon
Following a suit Thursday asserting that Vince McMahon sexally assaulted and trafficked former WWE employee Janel Grant, the WWE founder has resigned from his role as chairman of parent company Tko Group Holdings, according to an email from WWE president Nick Khan shared with TheWrap. Tko Group was created as the new parent company of WWE in its merger last year with UFC.

“I wanted to inform you that Vince McMahon has tendered his resignation from his positions as Tko Executive Chairman and on the Tko Board of Directors,” Khan wrote in an email to staff on Friday. “He will no longer have a role with Tko Group Holdings or WWE.”

“I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth,” McMahon said in a statement. “I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations,...

Slim Jim Pauses WWE Sponsorship Following Vince McMahon Sex Assault Suit
Vince McMahon
Longtime WWE advertising partner Slim Jim has paused its sponsorship with the wrestling promotion following “disturbing allegations” unveiled in a lawsuit Thursday against WWE founder and board chair Vince McMahon. The announcement comes ahead of this Saturday’s Royal Rumble, one of WWE’s biggest events of the year.

“Slim Jim values integrity and respect in all of our partnerships. Given the recent disturbing allegations against Vince McMahon, at this time we’ve decided to pause our promotional activities with WWE,” the company said in a statement. “This decision reflects our commitment to our brand values and responsibility to our community.”

They added that they “will continue to monitor the situation and base our future engagements on our values and what’s best for our brand.”

The current Slim Jim sponsorship was touted by the companies as the “largest sponsorship deal in WWE history” last August, kicking off with sponsorship around the SummerSlam event.
