- Marco Petry was born on June 14, 1975 in Würselen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. He is a director and writer, known for Schule (2000), Die Klasse von '99 - Schule war gestern, Leben ist jetzt (2003) and Tsunami im Kopf.
- He attended high school in Baesweiler from 1985 to 1994. After graduating he spent one year doing civil service. He then served a six month internship with media-impulse before entering the Academy of Television & Film (HFF/M) in Munich in 1996 to study Directing. He was awarded the "Eastman Förderpreis 2000" for his movie "Schule".
