Played the radio only character of Rev. Dr. John Ruthledge on "The Guiding Light" radio only show, from 1937 to 1946. Dr. Ruthledge and his congregration at the Little Church of Five Points, Illinois was the main focus of the show from 1937 to 1946. For a brief time, from April 1944 to May 1945, head writer and creator of "The Guiding Light" Irna Phillips wrote Dr. Ruthledge going over to Europe stationed to General Dwight Eisenhower's troops during World War II; Dr. Ruthledge was supposedly even part of the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944 (fictionally of course).
