Vengeance Is Mine – Review
Image
A scene from Vengeance Is Mine. Photo credit: Dubin (Submersive Media). Courtesy of Vertical Entertainment

I wonder what percentage of action movies rely on our innate human desire to avenge a wrong? That premise serves many genres – Westerns, martial arts, period and contemporary crime, etc. They range from low-key Everyman protagonists to hardcore splatterfests. This quiet little offering is a fine example of the former.

Vengeance Is Mine opens with an armed robbery and escape by four masked thugs in an SUV. Cut to Harry (Con O’Neill), a severely depressed man living on a cot in a church basement, in exchange for menial services. He considers suicide. We gradually learn that his state is the result of helplessly witnessing his wife and daughter being killed by those thugs’ vehicle during their escape. Harry has spent years waiting for a hired detective to discover who they were, since he’d only...

La vengeance est à moi (1979)
British Revenge Thriller 'Vengeance is Mine' Trailer with Con O'Neill
La vengeance est à moi (1979)
"It is necessary to have wished for death in order to know how good it is to live." Vertical Ent. has released an official US trailer for a British action thriller titled Vengeance is Mine, both written and directed by UK filmmaker Hadi Hajaig. Not to be confused with the 1979 Japanese film also titled Vengeance Is Mine, or the recent Indonesian film called Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash, this is a brutal tale of revenge. Harry is still struggling to come to terms with the murder of his wife and daughter 5 years previously. When he discovers the whereabouts of the killers he awakens from his grief and, like an avenging angel resolves to never stop until they are all dead. Don't mess with Harry. Vengeance is Mine stars Con O'Neill, Sarah-Jane Potts, Anton Saunders, Ricky Grover, and Peter Pedrero. Not the most original story, but this has some wicked cool shots in it,...

F is for Fart: Noboru Iguchi Talks The ABCs of Death, on VOD now and in theaters this March

Twenty-six directors. Twenty-six ways to die. The ABCs of Death is perhaps the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived with productions spanning fifteen countries and featuring segments directed by over two dozen of the world's leading talents in contemporary genre film. The directors were then given free reign in choosing a word to create a story involving death.

26 different sites spoke to the 26 The ABCs of Death filmmakers (check it out: clickHere), and all the interviews are posting today. We were fortunate enough to get one of our favorite contemporary horror directors, Japan's very own Noboru Iguchi! If you've seen some of his mind-blowing gore-blast horror comedies,...

Just Where is the Plot in Alien Origin? A DVD Review
*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by The Asylum. Director/writer: Mark Atkins. Cast: Chelsea Vincent, Peter Pedrero and Philip Coc. You better Belize it, this small country has their own special forces unit and they are going deep into the jungles with adventure journalist Julia Evans (Chelsea Vincent) in search for an Alien Origin. Tagging along is her own film crew to document this operation and what they discover is a graveyard filled with a tantalizing mystery. Unfortunately the intrigue went out the window. Although one subplot is clearly defined, another isn't. The only indication that this movie is about invaders from outer space is because of the camcorder Evans and the army find. After looking at the recording, which contains hints of some human victim being abducted, the only thing they can consider doing is to dig deeper. This lone scene is perhaps the...

Mallika’s ‘Laila’ not needed in ‘Tezz’: Priyadarshan
Bollywood sex icon, Mallika Sherawat, who has been known for her sizzling item numbers is back with a bang in Priyadarshan’s upcoming action thriller flick Tezz. The B-town diva has given some dazzling performances in the past with item numbers like Maiyya Maiyya and Jalebi Bai. However, the inclusion of her latest item number Laila in the movie has not gone too well with the director since he feels that it is not required to be a part of the movie and was supposed to be just a promotional stunt.

“I never wanted the item song in the film but the producers (Ratan Jain of Venus) said we are a musical company and hence it came in the film. They went ahead with it and producers naturally are always right as they spend money all the time. I did not want to do it, so they shot it without me,...

Pattinson Not Working On Pedrero Film
Robert Pattinson at an event for Twilight: Chapitre 2 - Tentation (2009)
Twilight actor Robert Pattinson has dismissed reports he's lending a helping hand to movie stuntman Peter Pedrero for his directorial debut, insisting he has nothing to do with Vauxhall Crossed.

The Hollywood hunk was alleged to be joining singer/actress Dannii Minogue and The Full Monty star Hugo Speer in Pedrero's new British spy film.

But Pattinson is baffled by the claims - because he hasn't signed up for anything with his two-time Harry Potter pal, according to GossipCop.com.

Asked whether Pattinson will be starring in the movie, his representative simply told the website, "No."

Pedrero performed stunts in all the Potter films, as well as James Bond movies Goldeneye and The World Is Not Enough.
