  • Served in World War II with the 52nd Lowland Division. Was mentioned in dispatches and left the army with the rank of lieutenant-colonel.
  • Dependable, latterly white-haired British character actor. On stage much at home in drawing room comedy. On screen particularly convincing as dignified men-of-the-cloth, police officers and doctors, played sometimes with an air of frailty or vulnerability.
  • Father was a French teacher.
  • Attended Aymestrey Court, Worcester, and Monmmouth School.
  • Made his stage debut at age 18 at London's Collins's Music Hall.
  • Father of Patrick Pearson.
  • Was a life-long close friend of Kenneth Williams, who used to spend a lot of time with Pearson and his family and who was a God- parent to his children.
  • Considered for the role of Sir Percy Heseltine in Lifeforce - L'étoile du mal (1985).
