New Republic Pulls “Inappropriate and Invasive” Op-Ed About Pete Buttigieg
The New Republic has retracted a homophobic op-ed about Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg.

The piece title “My Mayor Pete Problem” was written by openly gay literary critic Dale Peck, and drew condemnation immediately after it was published on the magazine’s website Friday.

Random House Releases Trailer for Tim Kring and Dale Peck's Shift
A trailer has been released for Heroes’ creator Tim Kring and Dale Peck’s book collaboration, Shift. Set in the 1960s, the tome tells the story of Chandler Forrestal, a man forced to suffer through a CIA mind control experiment using LSD. Much to the chagrin of the agency, Forrestal develops a “frightening array” of mental powers and discovers that members of the government may be involved in a conspiracy to assassinate President Kennedy.

Add ex-Nazi scientists, Lee Harvey Oswald, and Timothy Leary to the mix and you’ve got one over-the-top sounding adventure that will likely be more entertaining that the final season of Heroes. Shift will be available for purchase on August 10.
