    • Shirley Patterson was born on December 26, 1922 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She was an actress, known for L'oasis des tempêtes (1957), Un monde sans fin (1956) and Batman (1943). She was married to Alfred Smith, Jr. She died on April 4, 1995 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.

  • Blond Canadian-born leading lady, under contract at Columbia (1942-44), MGM (1945-46) and PRC (1946-47). Acted mostly in serials (notably as heroine to the first "Batman"), in Three Stooges comedies and B-westerns. Took a sabbatical from films to raise a family, 1947-53, then re-emerged under the name Shawn Smith as co-star in several cult sci-fi films and TV series. Broke a leg in eight places during a skiing accident at California's Big Bear mountain resort in 1958, which brought about her premature retirement from the film business.
  • She was cremated after passing and her ashes were scattered along into the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Her father was a druggist in Eastend, Saskatchewan.
  • Disqualified as Miss California 1940 as being underage. The second placed contestant, Rosemary LaPlanche, represented California in 1940 finishing second & would become Miss America in 1941.
  • High school graduate of the Mar-Ken School in Sherman Oaks, CA.
