The Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival, running from October 18 to 24 in the Spanish island’s capital of Palma, has unveiled its full line-up.

The festival will open with Spanish director Isabel Coixet’s new feature Un Amor, which recently world premiered at San Sebastian.

Coixet will also be feted with the festival’s Evolution Vision Award at the opening night ceremony.

Other honorees will include German-Spanish actor Daniel Brühl, best known for his roles in Goodbye Lenin, Rush and The Alienist, and Danish writer and director Susanne Bier, whose recent credits include The Night Manager and The First Lady.

They will both receive Evolution Icon awards while there will also be screenings of Brühl’s most recent film The Movie Teller, as the closing film, and Rush and Bier’s 2010 feature In A Better World, which won the Best International Feature Film Oscar.

However, the Nicol Paone movie – a follow-up to the director’s 2020 debut Friendsgiving – chooses to play it safe most of the time, despite the narrative begging for it to go deeper.

A really wet Friday in New York – National Weather Service flash flood warning wet – is likely to take a bite out of specialty film in one of its biggest markets this weekend. Shout! Studios announced on Thursday they are releasing Yale Entertainment’s darkly comedic thriller The Kill Room, in theaters nationwide September 29, 2023. Oscar®-nominee Uma Thurman and Academy Award® recipient actor Samuel L. Jackson have teamed up for the first time since Pulp Fiction for The Kill Room, directed by Nicol Paone and written by Jonathan Jacobson.

The dark comedic thriller follows an art dealer (Thurman) who teams with a hitman (Manganiello) and his boss (Jackson) for a money laundering scheme that accidentally turns the hitman into an overnight Avant-Garde sensation, forcing the dealer to play the art world against the underworld.

Capullo learns that she has unwittingly been laundering money for murders rather than drugs. Ethan Hawke is keeping it all in the family with his latest film, “Wildcat.”

Based on the life of novelist Flannery O’Connor, the biopic film stars Maya Hawke as the Southern writer. Ethan directs, produces, and co-wrote the script along with Shelby Gaines, as Variety first reported.

“Maya has been working hard for years to put this project together, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to introduce a new generation of filmgoers to the genius of Flannery O’Connor,” Ethan said, while also sharing a first look at the production on Instagram. “Her work explores themes important to all artists — the intersection of creativity and faith, the blurred relationship between imagination and reality.”

Ethan previously starred opposite Maya on limited series “The Good Lord Bird.” Maya executive produces “Wildcat” through her Under the Influence Productions. Principal photography for the film began January 10 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Tarantino has been open about the fact that vengeful The Bride (Uma Thurman) was directly inspired by Yeoh’s role in 1992 action-comedy “Police Story 3,” but Yeoh was never asked to battle it out with The Bride in either “Kill Bill” or its sequel.

In a Town & Country cover story, Yeoh admitted that she “asked Quentin the same question” about not being cast in the 2003 movie or its subsequent 2004 “Vol. 2.”
