Exclusive Set Report: Dario Argento's Dracula 3D
Two years ago a couple of veteran Italian movie producers got together to discuss the future of internationally packaged co-productions in the light of the global economic downtown. One was Roberto Di Girolamo, owner of the FilmExport Group, a company responsible for handling director Tinto Brass' erotica back catalog as well as such classics as Dino Risi's Scent of Woman . The other was Gianni Paolucci, producer of director Bruno Mattei's most recent output, Cannibal World and Island of the Living Dead , whose long career stretches back to Antonio Margheriti's 1984 Raiders knock-off The Ark of the Sun God . "We were talking about 3D and its place in the current film industry," recalled Gianni Paolucci. "We knew it wouldn't be easy to make a 3D movie in...

Rutger Hauer to Play Van Helsing in Argento's Dracula 3D
It's good to see the great Rutger Hauer getting his claws into some tasty roles in today's film landscape. Next up for the hobo with a shotgun? The world's most well known vampire hunter!

According to ComingSoon. It Hauer has landed the role of Van Helsing in Dario Argento's forthcoming Dracula 3D.

An Italy-France-Spain co-production led by Roberto Di Girolamo and Gianni Paolucci at Rome-based shingle Multimedia Film Prods., Dracula 3D also teams French producer Sergio Gobbi's Les Films de l'Astre.

The English-language pic is set to go into production soon in Hungary.

"My Dracula will be a film full of feeling because Dracula is also sentimental," Argento previously said. "Dracula loves, hates with strength, appeal and resolution, which reflects my way of making films. Besides Dracula, I'm also fascinated by the character of Mina, the woman he loves desperately more than anything else, for which he will sacrifice himself.

Rutger Hauer to play Van Helsing in Dracula 3D
As his career begins to skyrocket, Rutger Hauer is taking on roles that many never thought we’d see the aging actor portray. His latest film, which has brought him back into the limelight, is called Hobo With A Shotgun and it’s reportedly tons of fun. I have yet to see it, but it’s a Grindhouse-style flick where Hauer plays…a hobo with a shotgun. Now we have word from TwitchFilm that Hauer has been cast as Van Helsing in Dario Argento’s upcoming Dracula 3D. Hauer is making a huge comeback, and has five films slated for release this year.

This will be Hauer’s second run in with Dracula, the first being in Dracula III: The Legacy, although this time around he should have a bit better luck in defeating the bloodsucking villain. Roberto Girolamo and Gianni Paolucci are producing the film which is set to begin shooting sometime in May.
