Kumar Gaurav garnered a lot of fame after his debut movie, the 1981 film Love Story. However, he was rumored to have started a whirlwind romance with his co-star from the film, Vijayta Pandit. This did not go down well with his father, veteran actor Rajendra Kumar, who wanted him to marry a girl from an influential family.

Celebrating 44 Years Of R.D.Burman’s chartbuster music in Love Story, in this special feature, Subhash K Jha reveals that actually the composer hated the music of the hit film.

Love Story, released on 27 February 1981, directed by Rahul Rawail (though uncredited in the film), was a blockbuster. Kumar Gaurav and Vijayta Pandit played teen lovers who elope when their parents won’t let them be one (yawn!). The film, a crashing bore, sailed on the strength of its saleable unassailable music, especially the Lata Mangeshkar-helmed duet ‘Teri yaad aa rahi hai’ by R D Burman.

Recalling the recording and his association with R D Burman and Kumar Gaurav, Amit Kumar says. “The songs of Love Story made me very popular. Rajendra Kumar, who launched his son, Kumar Gaurav, knew my father from the time Rajendra Kumar assisted H S Rawail in Sharaarat.

Wedding Pullav which launches producer Shashi Ranjan's daughter Anushka was originally meant to be directed by Rahul Rawail who roped in his best friend Rishi Kapoor to make a very special appearance in this wedding comedy. But then Rawail had a fall-out with the producer and he marched out of the project. Ace cinematographer Binod Pradhan took over the directorial reins, leaving Rishi in a dilemma of loyalty. With a very heavy heart, we present our tribute to one of Bollywood’s finest music composers, Aadesh Srivastava, who sadly lost his battle with cancer. Our heartfelt condolences to the entire Srivastava and Pandit family. Aadeshji has two sons, Avitesh and Anivesh, with his wife Vijayta Pandit, who is sister of the famous Music Director duo Jatin-Lalit.

Aadeshji was not only a music director but also a background score composer. He gave the background score to many films, such as Humraaz, Ye Hai Jalwa and Paheli, the latter being one of our favorite and most noted background scores.

It is with great sadness we must report the passing of music composter Aadesh Shrivastava after a long battle with cancer. He was only 51 years old. He is survived by his wife Vijeta Pandit and two sons Anivesh and Avitesh.

A highly respected and well-known composer both in the songs for films and also the background music his work has been heard in many wonderful films including Chalte Chalte, Baghban, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Raajneeti, Dev, and Baabul to name just a few. His brilliant vocals were also heard on many songs as well.

He was so full of life, i have yet to see another man who has his traits.

"I've cried so much that my face has changed. I look like a different person," says Vijayta Pandit, yesteryears' hit heroine of Love Story, now composer Aadesh Shrivastava's devoted wife for many years, struggling to maintain her emotional equilibrium as her husband battles for his life.

"I can't describe what I am going through. I don't know how I am coping. Our two sons Anivesh and Avitesh are keeping me from crumbling under pressure. My family (brothers composers Jatin and Lalit Pandit) are also a great support," says Vijayta, recalling with horror her husband's sudden relapse a month ago.

"We had gone to America and had just returned when he suddenly started bleeding from his nose. It wouldn't stop. We rushed him to the Kokilaben hospital. That's been his home for the last one month. I am running from the hospital to our residence all day long trying to...

The discordant notes in the musical Pandit family continue. Sibling composers Jatin and Lalit Pandit and singers Sulakshana and Vijayta Pandit are now gearing up for a long court battle for the murder of their eldest sibling Sandhya Singh. Ironically the prime suspect in this foul murder case is Sandhya's son Raghubir. The thought of the family's honour being so displayed in a courtroom is weighing heavily on the Pandits. Says Lalit Pandit, "Yes, sadly there's going to be a court trial. And the family has to face it. Our slain sister Sandhya's son Raghubir has been charge-sheeted. The cops say they'll keep investigating further. But circumstantial evidence points to only one murder accused." Tragically the eldest Pandit sibling singer Sulakshna Pandit, now of delicate mental health, is still in the dark about the gruesome developments in the family. Says Lalit, "She won't be able to handle the shock.

Approximately a month back, there were reports that former actress Vijeta Pandit and music directors Jatin-Lalit's sister, Sandhya, had gone missing. It was then that Sandhya's husband Jayprakash had announced a reward of Rs. 50,000 for anyone with details on the whereabouts of his missing wife. Now we hear that, Jayprakash has increased the reward money from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 5 lakh to anybody willing to provide information on the whereabouts of Sandhya. While on the other hand, Vijeta expresses her fears that her sister might have been kidnapped for her jewellery. Mumbai, Dec 26: Former actress and wife of music composer Aadesh Shrivastav, Vijeta Pandit, is sickened and distraught with worry about her sister Sandhya Singh, who has gone missing since Dec 13.

Vijeta, whose fear is that her sister was killed for her jewellery just as she was about to enter a bank, is baffled that Mumbai police have not been able to gather any information on her whereabouts.

Crazed with worry Vijeta says: "What has happened to my sister? We don't know! She's happily married and she is the prettiest among us sisters. She's two years older than me. Unlike Sulakshana Didi and me, she never wanted to be.

Music composer Aadesh Srivastava is hurt that his Bollywood friends were not supportive during his cancer days

Aadesh Srivastava (of Meri Makhna (Baghban 2003) fame) who has been battling cancer is on his way to recovery now. However, he is upset that his Bollywood friends gave him the cold shoulder during his illness. He said, “Nobody came to visit me after I fell sick.”
