Paul is very close with his family, especially to his mother who he often cares for who lives with Parkinson's Disease.

Paul scored his first acting role in a cereal commercial on 6th June, 1990. It was the day his youngest sister was born in a hospital across the road from where he was filming, His father was going back and forth across the road to check on his wife and then to check on Paul.

For his role in boxing film 'Two Fists One Heart' Paul gained 13kg of muscle in 6 months of weight training.

Many of Paul's characters have had the name 'Joe' which is Paul's middle name in english and the name of his deceased brother.

Has two daughters and a son.
