European Box Office Soared 70% to $5.5 Billion in 2022, But Stayed a Third Lower Than Pre-Pandemic Levels, Study Reveals – Global Bulletin

Gross box office in the European Union (EU) and the U.K. grew by 70% in 2022 compared with 2021 – from €3 billion ($3.27 billion) to €5.1 billion ($5.57 billion), down by 28% on pre-pandemic levels. The numbers were revealed in the 2023 edition of Focus – World Film Market Trends, a report which is prepared each year for the Cannes film market.

Three U.S. films, “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Avatar: The Way of Water” and “Minions: The Rise of Gru” topped the European charts in 2022, selling 34.4 million, 30.6 and 30.2 million tickets throughout the calendar year respectively. Cinema attendance in the EU and the U.K. increased by 63% from 403 million tickets sold in 2021 to an estimated 657 million in 2022, representing 67% of the average pre-pandemic admission level registered between 2017 and 2019.

European films also performed well and market share for European films increased year-on-year from 26.8% to 28.4% in 2022, the report recorded. It also notes that film production in the EU and the U.

The penultimate movie to star Filipina-American actress Bb Gandanghari, this adaptation of Carlo Vergara's cult graphic novel delivers a queer and utterly entertaining spectacle of grand gesture of love and self-acceptance.

Ada is a Pinoy transgender woman who works as a beautician with her assistant Didi, another trans woman, in a small country town. Even though the former is the guardian of her niece Aruba, she does not feel fulfilled since she longs for acceptance as a woman in the capital. Didi regularly fantasizes about Dodong, the handsome man next door. Meanwhile, Ada always gets rejected by her greedy partners.

Just as Ada is desperate to find love, she is hit on the head by a strange pink meteorite. Ada, confused despite the encouragement of Didi and Aruba, swallows it and then utters the word inscribed on it: “Zaturnah”. She then turns into a voluptuous redheaded...

Almost Paradise is getting another shot at life.

IMDb TV, Amazon’s free streaming service, announced today the Season 2 pickup of the action series, created by Dean Devlin and Gary Rosen, who will also serve as co-showrunners.

The popular drama follows Alex Walker, a former U.S. DEA agent who, after his partner’s betrayal and a life-threatening battle with hypertension, is forced into early retirement and relocates to a small tropical island in the Philippines.

Almost Paradise Season 1 is exclusively available to stream on-demand on IMDb TV in the U.S.

"Once the DEA’s most resourceful undercover operative, Walker now runs the gift shop in the island’s luxury resort hotel," reads the official description of the series.

"While he manages to transition from top DEA agent to laid-back islander, the luxury resort has attracted the rich, powerful—and sometimes criminal—elite from around the world, often on a collision course with Alex.
