  • From the age of 13 she was brought up by Ruth Wynn Owen, an actress who was a friend of her mother. She used Ruth's surname as part of her stage name.
  • She died penniless, with an overdraft of £1750, when a friend stole her life savings after she had entrusted him to manage her financial affairs because of her dementia. He was jailed in 2025.
