Gerd Oswald(1919-1989)

German-born émigré director, former child actor. In the U.S. from 1938, initially as assistant director, subsequently as production manager and associate producer. Directed his first full-length film in 1956, specialising from then on in second features and television episodes. A particularly prolific helmsman of Au-delà du réel (1963).

I have to admit that all I know about film and style I learned from assisting other directors. They taught me what should and should not be done in front of the camera.
