Full Fantasia 2013 Lineup Announced, Includes Curse of Chucky, The World’s End, You’re Next
The Fantasia Film Festival is taking place from July 18th to August 6th in Montreal and will feature over 100 films from around the world. We gave you a look at the initial lineup last month and now have an additional list of Fantasia 2013 films that will be screening, including Curse of Chucky, You’re Next, and Frankenstein’s Army:

Horror Is Child’S Play – Don Mancini’S Curse Of Chucky (World Premiere)

A rarity among genre franchises, the Child’S Play series (begun in 1988) has retained the sure-handed guidance of original screenwriter/creator Don Mancini throughout killer doll Chucky’s decades’-long reign of horror. Mancini, who will be hosting our “scar-studded” world premiere, graduated to the director’s chair with 2004’s Seed Of Chucky, after having co-written or written every entry in the series. His longevity with the project is, of course, matched by the fiendish voiceover work by...

Danish TV Show Blows $&%# Up
Hey! Do you like to watch stuff blow up in slow motion? Then, this video is for you.

The title of the Danish TV program "Dumt & Farligt" translates to "stupid and dangerous." We can't gather too much information from the show's website, but the basic point seems to be that a pair of guys (Jan Elhøj and stuntman Lasse Spang Olsen) with destructive tendencies film stunts in which they shoot, crush, explode or otherwise destroy a variety of household goods. It's unclear whether the show has an underlying premise apart from wanton destruction.

This highlight reel captures some the Danish duo's best mayhem in super-slow motion, at 2500 frames per second on a Phantom Flex camera.

"Dumt & Farligt" is like "Jackass" with a set premise -- a house that the hosts are free to destroy as they please -- or "MythBusters" without any of the pesky science. Or at least...

An Old Friendship Turns Violent In Lasse Spang Olsen's The Last Journey
In a nation widely renowned for its arthouse cinema director Lasse Spang Olsen (In China They Eat Dogs) is the odd man out. The Danish stunt man turned director - though still very much in demand for his stunt work - Olsen forgoes the world of sensitive drama to instead create broad action comedies and he's back at his old tricks with upcoming effort The Last Journey (Den sidste rejse).A sort of Odd Couple / Grumpy Old Men tale pushed to extremes of violence, car wrecks, gun play and explosions all feature prominently in the first trailer. Take a look below....

Denmark comes to Austin
When most folks think about Danish cinema, they think Lars Von Trier. He and his Dogma 95 cohorts dominated the scene in the 90s and into the current decade. Europa (Zentropa), Breaking The Waves and Dancer In The Dark all garnered critical acclaim and Lars Von Trier became the darlings of the international film festival circuit. Below the surface of this high-concept, somewhat cerebral identity of Danish cinema, there was also another scene developing below the radar of arthouse critics, the often overlooked world of genre film that we so wholeheartedly love here at Fantastic Fest.

Our pal Anthony Timpson from the Incredibly Strange Film Festival in New Zealand first turned us on to director Lasse Spang Olsen and screenwriter Anders Thomas Jensen's 1999 brilliant dark-comedy/action film In China They Eat Dogs. Since then, we've hungrily sought out as much Danish genre film as we could devour. Fantastic Fest programmers Blake Ethridge,...

Harvey Keitel
Copenhagen Awaits Harvey Keitel And Christian Slater
Harvey Keitel
Hollywood actors Harvey Keitel and Christian Slater can look forward to spending next spring in Copenhagen, Denmark - literally working double shifts. Reservoir Dogs (1992) star Keitel and Broken Arrow (1996) star Slater are headed for the small Scandinavian country to star in two English-language versions of Danish box-office smash In China They Eat Dogs (1999). Director Lasse Spang Olsen has been working on the project for almost a year, but only last week did he get his financial backing in place and will be ready to roll next spring - shooting three versions back-to-back. He says, "It sounds slightly complicated. First we do a new Danish version of the original. Then we shoot the American version of that as well as a Hollywood version of the original." In China They Eat Dogs (1999) is set in Copenhagen's netherworld of crime, and besides Slater and Keitel the cast is also expected to feature British actor Brian Patterson along with some of the original young Danish stars.
