After graduating from the American Film Institute, John Norvet was chosen for a screenwriting internship at Disney, then developed the script for "Scenes from the Goldmine" with director Marc Rocco and producer Dan Eisenberg. For several years, he wrote stories and screenplays with independent film companies, then optioned his original script "Sunset Over El Dorado" which was shopped to studios with Jack Palance attached for the lead. When the AVID first came out in the 1990s, he assisted on various TV shows, then worked on music videos for Michael Jackson, Don Henley, and Elton John, all of which involved complicated visual effects. After receiving FLAME training at Silicon Graphics, he was hired by Pytka productions as an effects supervisor on a music video Joe Pytka directed for Seal. He stayed on at Pytka after being made an editor on the iconic "blue letterbox" IBM campaign for Ogilvy and Mather. He worked with Joe Pytka editing hundreds of commercials over a fifteen-year period, once winning the London International Advertising Award for his work. During his time at Pytka, he edited the John Lennon video "Starting Over", and a film for the Terracotta Warriors exhibit in China. He wrote and directed his first film in 1998, "The Fortune Teller", then shot and directed the documentary "Myanmar into the Light" in 2003. The past few years he has been shooting and directing commercials. He traveled to Dharamshala, India to shoot a video for the Tibetan Children's village, then Sayaboury, Laos for the French organization "Elefantasia". Most recently he shot in Botswana and Zambia for an anti-poaching organization.
