There’s A Fake Chelsea Handler Trying to Scam Stand-Up Comedians
Image
Any comedian who thinks that they’re booked on Dear Chelsea should probably double-check their bank statements and change their Facebook password. Basically, pretend you’re a Boomer who just found out that their “grandson” wasn’t really in a car accident.

In the decades since the many thousands of Nigerian princes on the internet first caused the public to grow aware of email scams, the keyboard kleptos of the world have grown much more capable in their schemes and significantly more niche. Sure, there are still plenty of amateur fraudsters sending out mass emails from their AOL.com burner account warning strangers’ spam folders that the Dmv is going to cube their car if they don’t respond with their Social Security number in the next 24 hours. However, the real heavy hitters of the online crime world have moved past the scattershot approach to scamming and are drawing up...

The 15 Best Guest Stars On Star Trek, Ranked
Image
As a franchise spanning multiple television series since 1966, Star Trek has brought countless memorable guest stars over the decades. However, not all guest stars are created equal, with several standing as clear highlights in their respective episodes. Whether it's one-and-done appearances or informal recurring roles, effective guest stars quickly are embraced as fan-favorites. In fact, some connect with the cast, crew, and audience so well, they've inadvertently steered the course of the franchise.

A great guest star gels seamlessly with the main cast and naturally elevates the story that they're appearing in. Rather than simply feeling like stunt casting, a guest role feels like an organic addition to the Star Trek franchise. For the purposes of this article, stars appearing on this list do not include actors who have appeared as series regulars on other Star Trek shows. Here are the 15 best guest stars on Star Trek, ranked in descending order.

T.J. Miller Is Open to Reprising ‘Deadpool’ Role After Saying He Wouldn’t Work With Ryan Reynolds Again
Image
T.J. Miller is open to returning to the Deadpool universe with Ryan Reynolds after previously publicly stating that he would never work with the actor again.

While a fourth film in the franchise hasn’t been confirmed, a follow-up to Deadpool & Wolverine seems like a sure thing following the film’s box office success. And the Silicon Valley alum is open to reprising his character Weasel in another sequel should it come to fruition.

“We talked a little while ago,” Miller said on SiriusXM’s The Bonfire about his relationship with Reynolds. “I think him asking me, I think he’s just been such a good friend right now that I think it would be really, I think that would be awesome.”

The actor played Weasel, Reynolds’ Wade Wilson’s best friend, in 2016’s Deadpool and 2018’s Deadpool 2. However, he didn’t return for Deadpool & Wolverine, which starred Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

Stephen Hawking Had One Condition For His Cameo In The Simpsons
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

The Legendary physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking began his professional acting career in 1993 after appearing on an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." In the episode "Descent", a holographic recreation of Hawking was manifested on the holodeck to play a round of poker with Albert Einstein (Jim Norton), Isaac Newton (John Neville), and the android Data (Brent Spiner). With that episode, Hawking seems to have ascended from a world-renowned Lucasian professor of Mathematics into a legitimate pop culture icon.

Indeed, in 1999, Hawking made the first of four appearances on "The Simpsons," playing himself each time; his performances had to be limited because of his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis which required the use of a wheelchair and his speech only capable through an electronic speaking machine. In the episode "They Saved Lisa's Brain", Lisa Simpson (Yeardley Smith) was inducted into Mensa,...

Stephen Hawking's Star Trek Cameo Has A Unique Distinction
Image
At the beginning of the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Descent, Part I", Data (Brent Spiner) is spending some free time on the holodeck. He has arranged a poker game with three of the greatest minds the scientific community has ever known. Sir Isaac Newton (John Neville) is arrogant and impatient. Albert Einstein (Jim Norton) is affable, but an aggravating poker player, as he struggles with basic arithmetic. And, sitting across from Data, making science jokes and poking fun at Newton and Einstein, is Stephen Hawking, playing himself.

Hawking gets the opening line of the episode, completing an anecdote: "But then I said, in that frame of reference, the perihelion of Mercury would have precessed in the opposite direction." Einstein laughs, and Data declares the story to be very amusing. Data tries to explain the joke to Newton, who would not have known about the relativistic curvature of space-time.

Ray Romano May Be Responsible for Giving Us Joe Rogan
Image
It’s part of TV comedy history that Joe Rogan replaced an actor named Greg Lee in the sitcom NewsRadio, making Rogan a household name and setting the stage for Fear Factor and eventual world domination. It would be easy to point an angry finger at Lee, who actually starred in the NewsRadio pilot, for not holding onto the job that would give Rogan a fame foothold. But there was a third comic actor who was cast before Lee. And if Ray Romano could have done a better job of impressing producers, we’d live in a very different timeline.

Yep, it was the future Everybody Loves Raymond star who was first cast as the electrician on NewsRadio. Romano auditioned and got the part in 1994 — only to get fired two days into rehearsals.

What was the problem? Producers felt like Romano’s sleepy line delivery was slowing down the show’s rapid-fire comic pace.

“You know Reynolds hates Miller when…”: Ryan Reynolds Bringing Back His Old Rival Wesley Snipes But Not T.J. Miller For Deadpool 3 Has Fans Questioning Their Real Life Relationship
Image
Deadpool has been somewhat of an event in and of itself in the past decade. When the Ryan Reynolds-helmed IP took off in 2016, a new leaf was turned over in Hollywood’s book of records, ensuring the dawn of a new era of cinema that was as maddeningly liberating as it was riotous fun.

For the first time in history, a movie star in the recesses of his career was given the power and the money to actively mock and call out multi-billion dollar industries, studio houses, and megacorporations on purpose.

In return, Ryan Reynolds wielded that power responsibly, slowly bringing together the Marvel fandom together from the sidelines, amassing an army of fans and supporters, and in Kevin Feige’s most dire time of need, answering the call to arms by rising to his ultimate destiny as Marvel Jesus.

The Comedy World of Kelsey Cook, According to Kelsey Cook

I thought Kelsey Cook was joking in her online bio when she said her parents are an international yo-yo champion and a member of the Foosball Hall of Fame. But she does indeed come from minor sports royalty, even scoring with a series of videos where she hustles unsuspecting Vegas bros in foosball.

She turned those stories and other life experiences into The Hustler, a stand-up special on YouTube that has more than three million views and counting. This Friday, the special moves to Hulu to find an even wider audience. I recently spoke to Cook about the zen of comedy, foosball and dating other comics.

“My whole life, my parents would stand me on a stool so I’d be tall enough to see the top of the (foosball) table. Then they’d put their hands on my hands and teach me how to shoot it. It’s the reason I exist,...

“Dude married Scarlett, he was doing just fine before Deadpool”: Die Hard Ryan Reynolds’ Fans Have Something to Say About T.J. Miller’s Criticism For the Deadpool Star
Image
Ryan Reynolds is probably one of the few actors out there with zero haters. From his onscreen characters to his banter with his wife Blake Lively, there is absolutely nothing we don’t love about him. His performance as Deadpool, though, will always hold a special place in our hearts. All in all, Ryan Reynolds clearly deserves all the appreciation he gets.

However, his former Deadpool co-star T.J. Miller does not seem to be a fan. The controversial actor has previously expressed his resentment toward Ryan Reynolds but the harsh feelings seemed to have ended when the latter reached out to the former. But recently, T.J. Miller has made some comments about the popular actor yet again that did not sit right with the fans.

Giancarlo Esposito Considered Hiring Someone to Kill Him for Life Insurance
Image
Giancarlo Esposito has been acting for more than four decades, but it's been a career of peaks and valleys. He began with supporting roles (or very minor ones) in a variety of TV shows and great movies before appearing more prominently in several fantastic Spike Lee films and the landmark show, Homicide: Life on the Street. But there were pockets of his career completely obfuscated by Hollywood, especially in the early-to-mid-2000s, where he could only get single-episode gigs on TV shows or smaller roles in low-budget movies.

This was long before his appearance as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, which earned him Emmy nominations and universal acclaim. He has starred in 55 films and shows since Breaking Bad ended in 2013. But before being cast, he was in a financially tough spot, turning to dark thoughts in a desperate attempt to care for his family.

Good Omens Fans Need to See Peter Serafinowicz as Crowley in Art from Original 2014 Adaptation
Image
Fans of the recent TV adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's Good Omens need to see Sean Phillips' art for the 2014 BBC Radio 4 adaptation of the beloved novel. The art shows the radio play's cast in their roles, painting a totally different picture of these beloved characters than fans know from the Amazon adaptation, where David Tennant & Michael Sheen play Crowley and Aziraphale. With a new graphic novel adaptation on the way, Phillips' art sets a high bar.

Shared on The Art of Sean Phillips blog, the art shows various actors in the guises of their characters. In the most surprising difference for fans of the Amazon show, Peter Serafinowicz - who has starred as everything from John Wick's Sommelier to a member of the McU's Nova Corps to the voice of Star Wars' Darth Maul - is the demonic Crowley, and Mark Heap is his angelic ally Aziraphale.

Emily Deschanel's Spider-Man 2 Character Explained
Image
Before Bones launched her to stardom, Emily Deschanel made a brief but memorable appearance in Spider-Man 2. The middle chapter of Sam Raimi’s groundbreaking Spider-Man trilogy, Spider-Man 2 is widely regarded to be one of the greatest comic book movies ever made. After the first movie told Spidey’s origin story and detailed how he got his powers and became a beacon of hope in a crime-ridden New York City, Spider-Man 2 took those powers away. The best-remembered Spider-Man 2 actors are big stars like Kirsten Dunst and Alfred Molina, but Emily Deschanel has a role as a great minor character.

Just over a year after her appearance in Spider-Man 2, Emily Deschanel landed the title role of Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan in the Fox procedural Bones. Across its 12-season run, Bones earned Emily Deschanel nominations for a Satellite Award, a Teen Choice Award, and six People’s Choice Awards.

The Full History Of Lance Reddick's Unforgettable Eric Andre Interview
Image
There is no talk show guest experience like going on Adult Swim's "The Eric Andre Show." Andre, a surrealist prankster comedian whose antics regularly offend, does his best to terrify and torture his guests on the talk show from Hell. There have been some memorable interviewees who managed to get on the same weird, Dadaist level as Andre, like rapper Tyler, the Creator and skateboarder Tony Hawk, but no one expected "The Wire" star Lance Reddick to sit down in the stuffy warehouse and put up with the show's bizarre gauntlet. His appearance on the 2013 episode of the late-night series was pretty unexpected in and of itself, but his actions in the episode are even more surprising. Reddick not only punches Andre's desk and storms off, he then comes back dressed in rags with chains, a visor, and a Starfleet communicator badge on his bare chest. The actor always commits completely to a role,...

First Trailer for 'Among the Beasts' - A Former Marine Rescues a Kid
Image
"I don't know how I can help." Gravitas Ventures has revealed an official trailer for a crime thriller titled Among the Beasts, the latest from actor / filmmaker Matthew Newton. Now set to open both in theaters and on VOD coming up in February. When a gangster's daughter reluctantly teams with a former Marine to find her kidnapped cousin, the combat veteran must overcome his own demons in order to rescue the child. There's not much more to the plot than that, yet another of these junk films being dumped on VOD every week. This indie thriller stars Tory Kittles, Libe Barer, Sarunas J. Jackson, Kate Easton, Jeremy Holm, Mark Mitton, with Jon Bass, and Jim Norton. Unfortunately this looks instantly forgettable and entirely uninteresting, not even worth watching the trailer either. Save yourself the trouble and just skip it. ›››

Rob Schneider Claims Bill Murray “Absolutely Hated” Members of ‘SNL’ Cast Including Adam Sandler, Chris Farley

Rob Schneider claims Bill Murray “absolutely hated” the cast of Saturday Night Live when the latter hosted the NBC sketch comedy series.

Schneider, appearing on today’s episode of SiriusXM’s The Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Show, went so far as to say that Murray particularly disliked Adam Sandler and the late Chris Farley. The subject came up as the hosts were discussing rumors about Robert Shaw’s reportedly difficult demeanor on the set of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws.

“That’s the same thing with Bill Murray,” Schneider interjected. “I won’t say who the filmmaker was, but ‘Bill Murray is gonna come, he’s gonna change the…dialogue. He’s gonna change things, and it’s gonna be great, but you don’t know who you’re gonna get. Which Bill Murray you’re gonna get. The nice Bill Murray? Or you...

Ryan Reynolds responds to Tj Miller’s claims he acted ‘weird’ and ‘horrifically mean’ on Deadpool set

Tj Miller has claimed that Ryan Reynolds contacted him after he said he had a “weird” experience with the Deadpool actor during filming.

The former Silicon Valley star, who played Weasal in the first two Deadpool films, said in a recent podcast interview that Reynolds’s alleged on-set behaviour left him with no desire to work with the actor again.

“Would I work with him again? No, I would not work with him again,” Miller said during an appearance on the Adam Corolla Show podcast earlier this month. “But I’ve said that about Michael Bay, and now we’re friends, and I would work with him again. But I think Michael Bay is different.”

Miller explained: “We had a really weird moment on Deadpool where he said, ‘Let’s do one more take.’ And then as the character, he was horrifically mean to me as if I’m Weasel.

“It was so regimented. It’s extraordinary,” he added.

Simon Pegg Says ‘Star Wars’ Stans Are More ‘Toxic’ Than ‘Star Trek’ Fans
Simon Pegg in Star Trek : Sans limites (2016)
Simon Pegg earned the wrath of the Dark Side of the Force when he said that “Star Wars” fans are currently pop culture’s “most toxic” fanbase – and are far worse than what he sees from “Star Trek” fans, in particular.

Stopping by Sirius Xm’s “Jim and Sam” show with Jim Norton and Sam Roberts last week, Pegg was asked which of the different franchise fan bases between “Star Wars,” “Star Trek” and “Dr. Who” have been the most toxic to deal with.

“As someone who was kicked off about the prequels when they came out, the Star Wars fan base seems to be the most toxic at the moment. I’m probably being very controversial to say that,” the actor said.

Image
Sean Hannity has responded to John Oliver’s charge that the Fox News host has been exaggerating the violence of Portland’s Black Lives Matter protests: Don’t be so serious.

“His big problem is he’s not funny,” Hannity says in a SiriusXM interview.

On Sunday’s Last Week Tonight, Oliver riffed on the Trump Administration’s handling of the Portland protests following the police killing of George Floyd. Oliver said that Hannity overstated the protests’ violence and that Hannity’s “tone does not reflect conditions on the ground.”

He added, “If you, like Trump, think that it is fun to use federal troops as a prop to crush the constitutional right to assemble then like a great American, I’d like to offer you a basic cognitive test.” He then held up two middle fingers, “How many fingers am I holding up?”
