A scrappy place to grow up in at a dismal time in American History.Sal,Lorenzo(Lore)and Barney grew up quick and when the war broke out,Lore due to poor eyesight joined the Merchant Marine and was awarded the Purple Heart(One of the few awarded to Merchant Marines).Sal went into the Army and Barney served with the 45th Infantry division also with the U.S. Army, where he was quite Gallant in numerous battles and being highly decorated with the Purple Heart and Bronze Star among many other decorations and Profiled in Stars and Stripes in an article Titled:"Supply Train One Man Style" depicting his numerous journeys crawling on his belly to and from an Ammo dump, whereby saving his entire platoon forcing the Germans to retreat into the woods that day. He came in a Private and received several field commissions. Barney Noto was a Staff Sergeant and was offered an officers commission as a Lieutenant, which he declined in favor of His Honorable Discharge. Barneys first taste of acting was with Robert Mitchum and Burgess Meredith in "The Story Of G.I. Joe" with his actual war time Outfit. Returning to Brooklyn,he used his G.I.
