He and his second wife, Galina, have two sons: Anton, and Russian actor Aleksey Nilov. Aleksey, in turn, has given his parents three grandchildren, by three different women: Russian actress Elizaveta Nilova, born in 1985 to Aleksey's first wife, Anna Zamotaeva, musician Dmitriy, born in 1992 to Susanna Tsiryuk, with whom Aleksey had a relationship in the 1990s, and Nikita, born in 2003 to Aleksey's second wife, Russian actress and singer Irina Klimova.

His maternal uncle was the late Soviet-era actor Pavel Kadochnikov. And Pavel's granddaughter, Russian actress Nataliya Kadochnikova, is his first cousin once removed.
