To his disappointment, his mother would never see him on stage, because she died in 1959.

He starred in musicals such as "Wat een Planeet"and Foxtrot from Annie M.G. Schmidt. In the 1996 musical Miss Saigon, he played the controller. His versatility led him to work in musicals, shows, song programs, LPs and cabaret shows.

2005 was the year in which he played his last film role. In his choices for roles, shows and songs, he sometimes aimed at an adult audience, then at a specific youth audience.

He once fell in love with Gerard Reve, who rejected him.
