Production company Hangtime International Pictures has joined the team for the long-awaited second season of The Night Manager, as the show begins principal photography in London this month.

Following Hangtime’s launch at the Cannes Film Festival in May, the company’s Frank Murray and Frida Torresblanco will serve as co-executive producers on the show.

Murray was brought aboard the series by The Ink Factory co-founder and co-ceo Simon Cornwell and executive producer Stephen Garrett. “I’m thrilled to continue my working relationship with Simon and The Ink Factory team via Hangtime,” Murray said. “I am such a huge fan of the series, it is truly an honor and a privilege.”

BBC and Amazon MGM Studios have announced that Oscar winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) is officially coming back for The Night Manager Season 2, after eight years since the spy thriller series had wrapped up its 6-episode first season. Besides Colman, four more returning cast members have also been enlisted to appear in the next installment.

Per BBC, The Night Manager Season 1 stars Alistair Petrie (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Douglas Hodge (Joker), Michael Nardone (Rome), and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place) have been tapped to reprise their respective roles as Sandy Langbourne, Rex Mayhew, Frisky and Daniel Roper in the forthcoming second season. Interestingly, three of these characters are connected to the first installments main antagonist, Richard Roper, portrayed by Hugh Laurie. The latters Season 2 return hasnt been confirmed yet, but he is currently involved as an executive producer. Back in 2018, The Night Manager was a huge hit for the BBC, winning 36 awards including two Emmys, a BAFTA and several Golden Globes.

Adapted from the 1993 novel by John Le Carre, the show followed Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston), the night manager of a high class hotel in Cairo, who is recruited by Angela Burr (Olivia Colman), the manager of a Foreign Office task force, to infiltrate the inner circle of sinister arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie).

It was a glossy, big budget production, and writer David Farr expertly crafted Le Carre’s twisty plot into six exhilarating hours of drama.

Several familiar faces will be back for the upcoming second season of The Night Manager. Olivia Colman will return to reprise her Emmy-nominated role as intelligence officer Angela Burr. Additionally, Noah Jupe will return as Danny Roper, Alistair Petrie as Alexander “Sandy” Langbourne, Douglas Hodge as Rex Mayhew and Michael Nardone as Frisky, Deadline has confirmed.

They join the returning Tom Hiddleston as former military officer Jonathan Pine. Other confirmed cast for Season 2 includes Camila Morrone, Diego Calva, Indira Varma, Paul Chahidi and Hayley Squires.

Line of Duty’s Martin Compston, Breaking Bad’s Laura Fraser, Cheat’s Molly Windsor and Travelers’ Jennifer Spence are to star in UKTV’s crime drama Traces.

The quartet will front the six-part series, which is written by Scott & Bailey and This Life writer Amelia Bullmore and based on an original idea from crime writer Val McDermid, whose Hill/Jordan books were turned into hit crime drama Wire in the Blood.

It marks the first original commission for UKTV’s Alibi and is produced by Happy Valley and Safe producer Red Production Company.

Casper Van Dien Q&A: "June tells the story of nine-year-old June (Brice) who has been shuffled in and out of foster homes for years. It’s only when June is sent to live with a new couple, Lily (Pratt) and Dave (Van Dien), that it looks as if things might finally work out. Justin Chadwick has shown a love of delving into history to tell riveting true tales in his past films, The Other Boleyn Girl, The First Grader and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. All three of those efforts were excellent, which makes us excited that he’s going back in time to the 17th century for his next movie, titled Tulip Fever. Three Canadian TV series are nominated at the upcoming Monte Carlo Television Festival. In dramatic series, the nominees are Durham County and Rookie Blue, two procedural dramas. The only comedy that made it into the nominees is Call Me Fitz.
