Subhash K Jha Revisits Deepti Naval’s Freaky Chakra Which Clocks 22 Years
Image
The story and screenplay of this strongly citified fable on sexual liberation is credited to as many as seven writers. Too many cooks definitely don’t spoil this bubbly broth of uneven and yet endearing components from theatre, music videos, cinema, literature, soap operas, and sitcoms that merge with mirthful sighs.

Coming in the wake of the other films like Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai, Somnath Sen’s Leela, and Shashilal Nair’s Ek Chotisi Love Story about very young men being attracted to women old enough to be their moms, Freaky Chakra does suffer from a haven’t-we-seen-it-all disadvantage.

Fortunately for second-time director V.K. Prakash, his film is the most original among the films on the sexual diaspora. Its emotional graph swings from the ridiculously risible to the modestly poignant, sometimes combining both, as in the character of the pathetic Sunderam (Sachin Khedekar), the hypochondriac who keeps ringing...

Tajdar Amrohi Turned Sleuth To Trace Shashilal Nair For His Comeback Film
(L-r) Shashilal Nair & Tajdar Amrohi

Director Shashilal Nair, who had directed the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer One Two Ka Four and had been honoured with the National Award for his 1993 release Angaar, had taken a sabbatical after his film Ek Choti Si Love Story and now, the director is making a comeback after more than a decade for producer Tajdar Amrohi’s upcoming film, which stars his son Mashoor and newcomer Esther.

However, what many might not know is that finding Shashilal Nair was not a piece of cake and that Tajdar had to employ skills that would impress any private eye to trace Nair and finally locate him in a pub in Manchester.

When asked to elaborate on the same, Tajdar said, “I had been thinking of making a comeback and I decided to have Nair direct my film as I only have two friends in this industry-jp Dutta and Shashilal Nair.

Nana Patekar turns villain after 5 years
Nana Patekar
5 Years after his one-off award-winning stint as a corrupt kidnapper Bihari politician in Prakash Jha's Apaharan, Nana Patekar is back in black. The diabolic politician in Apaharan was more for his friend and favourite collaborator Prakash Jha who had to coax Nana to get back into the evil zone which at one time Nana had dominated with such resonant impact in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Parinda and Shashilal Nair's Angaar. Thereafter, Nana focused on playing the lead in films Krantiveer and Tirangaa...In fact his next two releases It's My Life and Ab Tak Chappan 2 would feature Nana in the main lead. Breaking his no-villainy rule, Nana plays an out-and-out negative character in Priyadarshan's Malaamal Weekly 2. Apparently, Nana agreed to break his anti-negativity rule as he had never tried the unconventional recipe of villainy in a comedy. Says director Priyadarshan, "It's a challenge for Nana Patekar, and one...

Srk in catch-22 situation over remake of Tamil films - Realbollywood.com News
Kamal Haasan and Jyotika in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu (2006)
New Delhi, Jan 27: Shah Rukh Khan is apparently in a dilemma, as he is unable to choose between the remake of two Tamil films - Menon's Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu and Murugadoss's Ramanna.

Rumour has it, that both the films are looking equally tempting to King Khan, as they would be providing him with the opportunity to essay the kind of characters which he hasn't portrayed as yet in his career.

"While Murugadoss's film casts Srk as a social crusader, Menon's film casts him as a cop, a role he has played just once in Shashilal Nair's One 2 Ka 4. Srk has never got a chance to get into a khaki uniform. This, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu.

Kamal Haasan wants Shah Rukh Khan for remake of his Tamil film
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan is in a dilemma. He has to choose between the remakes of two Tamil remakes, A R Murogadoss' Ramanna and Gautham Menon's Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. Both offer the picky superstar Khan a chance to do something he hasn't done before. A South Indian remake with parts that he hasn't tried before. Says a source, "While Murugadoss' film casts Srk as a social crusader, Menon's film casts him as a cop, a role he has played just once in Shashilal Nair's One 2 Ka 4 and that too a plain-clothed cop. Srk has never got a chance to get into khaki uniform. This, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu will let him do." Indeed, Gautham Menon informs that Shah Rukh is the only choice for the Hindi remake of Vettaiyaadi Vilaiyaadi. Contrary to reports, Salman Khan is not up for consideration for the Hindi adaptation of the Gautham Menon's 2006 Tamil hit Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu.
