The Flying Dutchman (2001)
Robin P. Murray is a writer, producer, director, photographer, cinematographer and editor. He has been producing and directing feature films and documentaries since the acclaimed documentary, "The Great American Hobo," which launched the "Independent Lens" series for PBS in 1980. During that time he also produced "The Great American Lumberjack" for PBS. Mr. Murray produced and directed the following feature films: "Season of Change," starring Michael Madsen, Nicholle Tom and Hoyt Axton - it won Best Picture at the Santa Clarita International Film Festival, and the Bronze Award for direction at the Houston International Film Festival; "The Flying Dutchman" or now known as "Frozen in Fear," starring Eric Roberts, Rod Steiger and Catherine Oxenberg. In Canada for Hannibal Pictures Mr. Murray wrote the story and was Executive Producer on; "Partners in Action," starring Armand Asante. For Hannibal Pictures Mr. Murray was a production executive on "Absolon" starring Christopher Lambert, Ron Perlman and Lou Diamond Phillips - budget $7M; and "Crime Spree," starring Gerard Depardieu and Harvey Keitel - budget $11M. In the late eighties Mr. Murray directed "Dance" starring Johan Renvall of American Ballet Theatre and Ellen Troy of Twyla Tharp - budget $2M. Mr. Murray has written and collaborated on the following feature film screenplays: "Miss Great Britain" (written by) for Robert de Keyser of De Keyser Fashions, Ltd in London; "The Flying Dutchman" (story by); "Dance" (story by); "Partners in Action" (story by); "Eye of the Hawk". In addition to the documentaries for PBS, Mr. Murray has produced and shot the following documentaries: "Hollywood Dancers", "From China with Love", "Search for a Heavyweight Contender", "Fight Chicks" (6 part series) and others. As a cinematographer he was DP and or operator on "Season of Change", "Frozen in Fear", "Eye of the Hawk", and such TV shows as ABC's "That's Incredible," the Winter Olympics, and ABC sports Television. Mr. Murray's career began in Hollywood in 1979 as a photographer - he was the exclusive photographer for the Lees Strasberg acting school in Hollywood. He shot hundreds of actors and actresses headshots, composites, including extensive modeling portfolios. Mr. Murray has decades of corporate experience including: City of Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, GMC, Getty Images, Kmart, USC Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center, Jewish Federation, Geller Foundation, Cardinal Health, Wellpoint, Los Angeles Unified Pre-School, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, ABC's "That's Incredible," the Winter Olympics, ABC sports TV and many others.
