‘Let The Wrong One In’ Review
Image
Stars: Karl Rice, Eoin Duffy, Hilda Fay, David Pearse, Mary Murray, Anthony Head | Written and Directed by Conor McMahon

You might think that you don’t know a lot of Irish horror movies but you either didn’t realise certain films were made in Ireland or by Irish filmmakers or you’re not watching the right films! Whether it be the comedy from 2005 Boy Eats Girl or folky Hammer movie Wake Wood or the terrifying Corin Hardy movie The Hallow or the ridiculously fun Grabbers. There’s plenty for horror fans to enjoy and the pun in the title will tell you that Let The Wrong One In is the latest horror comedy coming from Ireland.

It tells the story of Matt, a teenager who suddenly discovers his older brother, Deco, has become a vampire. He then has to decide whether to help his brother or the very, very, opposite and kill him.

First Trailer for Vampire Comedy 'Let the Wrong One In' from Ireland
Anthony Head, Mary Murray, and Karl Rice in Let the Wrong One In (2021)
"I want you to teach me how to kill vampires!" This looks like crazy ridiculous fun! Showing this weekend at the Glasgow FrightFest is this indie horror comedy from Ireland titled Let the Wrong One In, a riff on the classic Swedish vampire indie film Let the Right One In. It first premiered at Fantastic Fest and Sitges last year, and also played at Screamfest. A young supermarket worker learns his older brother is a vampire and must choose whether to help him or slay him. Matt may be a sucker, but when his brother becomes part of a growing vampire problem in Dublin, he's faced with a dilemma - to stake him or not. It's described as a "wonderfully silly and ridiculously rude horror comedy for Shaun of the Dead fans." This stars Karl Rice, Eoin Duffy, Anthony Head, and Mary Murray. It does look funny, but almost too absurd.

Chris Brown Sentenced To 1,000 Hours Community Service
Mark Geragos
Los Angeles — A judge reinstated Chris Brown's revoked probation Friday and gave the singer a new sentence to perform 1,000 hours of community labor such as cleaning beaches or highways, removing graffiti or performing other chores assigned by the probation department.

Brown's current legal troubles are the latest repercussions of his arrest four years ago for assaulting his former girlfriend, Rihanna.

The popular R&B singer sat in a courtroom for nearly an hour as his lawyer, Mark Geragos, and a prosecutor shuttled in and out of the judge's chambers, with Geragos apparently seeking his client's approval for a plan to keep him from facing more serious consequences.

Superior Court Judge James Brandlin finally emerged and announced that an agreement had been reached.

Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray withdrew a request to rescind Brown's probation because of a hit-and-run charge that was dismissed in another court Thursday.

Brandlin then told Brown...

Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) and his wife (Emily Watson), Belle’s lineage affords her certain privileges, yet her status prevents her from the traditions of noble social standing. While her cousin Elizabeth (Sarah Gadon) chases suitors for marriage, Belle is left on the sidelines wondering if she will ever find love. After meeting an idealistic young vicar’s son bent on changing society, he and Belle help shape Lord Mansfield’s role as Lord Chief Justice to end slavery in England.

Chris Brown Back In Court
Frank Ocean
Los Angeles — Chris Brown is set to return to court Wednesday to face a prosecutor who is asking a judge to revoke the singer's probation because investigators could not find credible evidence he completed his community labor sentence for the 2009 beating of Rihanna.

A motion filed Tuesday raises for the first time in Brown's felony assault case several incidents that prosecutors say demonstrate Brown has ongoing anger management issues.

They cited a Jan. 27 fight between Brown and fellow R&B star Frank Ocean, and a 2011 outburst in which Brown threw a chair through a window after he was asked about the Rihanna attack on "Good Morning America."

The filing represents a dramatic shift in the case against Brown, who was repeatedly praised by the judge overseeing his case for his completion of domestic violence courses and his community service work in his home state of Virginia. That changed in September,...

Chris Brown Faked Community Service? — Da: Probation Violation
Uh oh. The District Attorney claims Chris faked his community service — he may be heading to jail! What will Rihanna do?

The Los Angeles County District Attorney filed legal documents claiming Chris Brown has violated his probation by submitting fake community service records. According to the lega documents, Chris lied about completing his community service stemming from the Rihanna assault case.

The Los Angeles District Attorney tells HollywoodLife.com, “Entertainer Chris Brown failed to provide ‘credible, competent or verifiable evidence’ that he completed his court-ordered community labor. [We] asked the court to order Brown to fulfill his obligation in Los Angeles County.”

Bryan T. Norwood, the Chief of Police in Richmond, Virginia, reportedly wrote a letter to the judge on September 14, 2012, claiming that Chris successfully completed 202 days of community service out of the 180 sentence to him on August 25, 2009 as part of a five-year probationary sentence for assault.

The documents allegedly claim that Chris,...

Chris Brown Tests Positive for Marijuana, Remains on Probation
Mark Geragos
A conservatively dressed Chris Brown, strutting a gray vest over a white button down shirt, arrived in court today alongside his attorney Mark Geragos for a probation hearing in Los Angeles.  And although Breezy was looking good, it wasn't his wardrobe that the judge was worried about. After meeting with his attorney and Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray in chambers for 20 minutes, Judge Patricia Schnegg concluded that she will not revoke Brown's probation after learning that the rapper had tested positive for marijuana because she had never imposed drug testing as a condition. Brown told the probation department in Virginia that he had a medical marijuana card and had ingested the drug...

Judge seeks audit of Chris Brown's community work
Mary Murray
Los Angeles (AP) — A judge ordered an audit of Chris Brown's community service progress Tuesday after a prosecutor handling his felony assault case cited a possible discrepancy in the amount of work he has performed. Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray requested the audit because she says the records are not clear on how many hours Brown performed and where the work has been done. Brown had been allowed to perform six months' worth of community labor in his home state of Virginia, but a judge said probation officials in Los Angeles should review detailed records to ascertain how much work...

Rihanna's Restraining Order Against Chris Brown Legally Lifted
Two years after he assaulted ex-girlfriend Rihanna, Chris Brown has got the restraining order that prohibited him to get in touch with the Barbadian singer modified. During a court hearing in Los Angeles on Tuesday, February 22, Judge Patricia Schnegg officially downgraded the order to level one.

The judge's decision to ease the restraining order now allows the "Run It!" singer to e-mail, call or physically contact Riri, but still limits the contact under some conditions. "I'm approving the order," so said Judge Schnegg during the proceedings, "you can't annoy, molest, or conduct surveillance of the person on the order."

Chris was present at the hearing, sitting silently while his attorney Mark Geragos spoke for him. Rihanna, however, did not come. She was represented by her lawyer Donald Etra, who stressed that the "Rude Boy" singer "does not object to it being modified to a level one order." The attorney told the judge,...

Lifting the Lid on W.C. with Liam O Mochain
(Julia Wakeham and director/actor Liam O Mochain in Wc, above.)

by Alan Kline

When I first visited Irish filmmaker Liam O Mochain ten years ago on the set of his debut feature, The Book That Wrote Itself, one of the first things I noticed was that he had managed to pull together production elements that would have been difficult for a film with ten times the budget. On the first day, he had managed to get the City of Dublin to give him a double-decker bus, complete with driver, to shoot on throughout the city. I, and a few dozen other tourists, had just paid the equivalent of $20 each for a tour on a similar bus, just the day before. Later in the production, he visited the Venice Film Festival with a small crew, attended a press conference, and asked a variety of celebrity luminaries questions, in character as Vincent,...
