Narcos Creator's New Crime Drama Gets Ordered to Series
Image
Chris Brancato is a longtime TV writer and producer, having been involved in major projects – chief among them, Netflix’s drug lord drama Narcos. Now, Brancato has joined forces with MGM+ to executive produce The Westies, a series about the Irish crime family of the same name.

A press release revealed thatThe Westies will be set in the early 1980s New York, and it’ll be centered around the attempt by the Irish to maintain control over their turf amidst the construction of the Jacob K. Javits Center – which, in the modern age, has become the venue for events such as New York Comic-Con. Despite having a considerably smaller family than the Italians, the Westies managed to retain dominance over Hell’s Kitchen, and exert their influence across the city of New York. However, internal conflict between the audacious younger generation and the more measured old guard threatens their continued control of the city.

Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
‘In the Shadow of the Moon’ Trailer: Michael C. Hall Hunts a Serial Killer in Netflix Drama
Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
After eight scintillating seasons as TV’s most compelling serial killer on “Dexter,” Michael C. Hall is playing for the other team. Looking like a grown-up version of Jonathan Groff’s Holden in “Mindhunter,” Hall plays a detective hunting an elusive serial killer in a new thriller debuting on Netflix later this month. Directed by Sundance award-winning director Jim Mickle, “In the Shadow of the Moon” sets out to catch a repeat killer leaving a string of dead bodies with mysterious bite marks on their necks. The recently released trailer promises an intriguing dose of supernatural elements to keep the viewer on their toes.

Here’s the official synopsis: “In 1988, Philadelphia police officer Thomas Lockhart (Boyd Holbrook), hungry to become a detective, begins tracking a serial killer who mysteriously resurfaces every nine years. But when the killer’s crimes begin to defy all scientific explanation, Lock’s obsession with finding...

Boyd Holbrook
Netflix's In the Shadow of the Moon Poster & Photos Tease a Crime That Defies Time
Boyd Holbrook
Boyd Holbrook looks nothing like his tatted and villainous Pierce (Logan) in Netflix's upcoming film In the Shadow of the Moon. The recent images for the "genre-blending psychological thriller" give us a look at Holbrook as officer Thomas Lockhart beside a very serious Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and a suspicious looking Cleopatra Coleman (The Last Man on Earth). The steller cast comes together in a film that "examines the power of time, and how its passing can either bring us together or tear us apart."

In the Shadow of the Moon follows "Philadelphia police officer Thomas Lockhart (Boyd Holbrook). Hungry to become a detective, [he] begins tracking a serial killer who mysteriously resurfaces every nine years. But when the killer's crimes begin to defy all scientific explanation, Locke's obsession with finding the truth threatens to destroy his career, his family, and possibly his sanity."

ITV Said Eyeing UKTV Deal With BBC; Youku Scores World Cup Rights In China; October Studios Launches – Global Briefs
ITV is said to be mulling a joint venture arrangement with the BBC by acquiring the 50% of British broadcaster UKTV that is currently owned by Discovery. BBC Studios (formerly BBC Worldwide) already holds the other 50% of the company and has an option to buy the Discovery stake which it would then immediately sell to ITV, according to The Telegraph. The parties are not commenting the report that the rivals are considering the deal which would make them partners in the £1B venture. Terms would be required to be agreed by the end of next week, the report said. Although the BBC and ITV are fierce competitors, they successfully launched U.S. streaming service Britbox in 2017 and joining hands on UKTV is seen as a means to bolster the homefront against the U.S. tech giants. UKTV is comprised of a mix of 10 free-to-air and pay-tv channels and has a free streaming service.

Wagner Moura in Narcos (2015)
Watch Pablo Escobar, DEA Wreak Havoc in 'Narcos' Season Two Trailer
Wagner Moura in Narcos (2015)
The hunt for Pablo Escobar begins in the blistering, action-packed first trailer for Season Two of Netflix's Narcos.

The clip opens with DEA agent Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) recounting the Colombian drug kingpin's effortless escape from prison in the face of thousands of armed soldiers and multiple helicopters. "It was the biggest law enforcement blunder of all time," Murphy says. "And now we wanted payback."

The combination of Murphy's dry narration and Styx's "Renegade" gives the clip a giddy, over-the-top tone as alliances form, Escobar (Wagner Moura) regains control of his empire,...
