Matt Morris is an artist with extraordinary talent, whose music blurs
the lines between acoustic soul, folk and mainstream pop. This 28
year-old, Colorado native transforms the audiences who witness him
sing. His voice has the power to bring stillness to a noisy room. There
is an intangible quality about Matt; a special spark that shines only
in the eyes of genuine stars. Matt's performances have been seen around
the world, both on stage and screen. In 1998, Matt's music was
showcased in a PBS documentary on Art and Music shot in Moscow, Russia,
and more recently in December of 2002, Matt appeared as a featured
performer on the Scott Hamilton and Friends NBC Christmas Special. As
co-headliner for the largest free 4th of July celebration of 2003, he
performed with his band to an overflow crowd of more than 85,000
people. At age 12, Matt began a 4 year stint on the nationally
syndicated, prime-time cable show, The New Mickey Mouse Club, along
side superstars Britney Spears,
Justin Timberlake and
Christina Aguilera. His fellow cast
members respected Matt for his musical abilities, and invited him to
collaborate in their recording projects. He and Aguilera wrote 5 songs
off of her sophomore album "Stripped", including the hit single "Can't
Hold Us Down". The pair also coined the Chart-Topping smash, "Miss
Independent", sung by American Idol winner,
Kelly Clarkson. "Stripped" received a
Grammy nomination for Best Female Vocal Pop Album; "Can't Hold Us Down"
received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Collaboration, and "Miss
Independent" received a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal.
Matt released the album "UnSpoken" in 2003. "His music is so beyond the
last generation," says longtime friend
Justin Timberlake, who co-wrote one
song on Matt's debut album, UnSpoken. "Matt's stuff allows people to be
creative while they're listening. It's just good music." In 2007, Matt
was signed to Tennman Records, a joint venture between Justin
Timberlake and Interscope Records.
