The 75th annual Writers Guild Awards were handed out on Sunday in concurrent ceremonies at the Edison Ballroom in New York and Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

Severance took home the prize for best new series, beating out fellow first-time nominees such as Bad Sisters, Andor and Abbott Elementary. The Apple TV+ series also won for best drama, with FX’s The Bear winning in comedy.

To celebrate the end of “Grace and Frankie,” Netflix is giving us some extra laughs.

The streamer released a Season 7 blooper reel on Monday, which you can watch above. The video features gaffes from missed lines to blundered fight choreography.

Of course, many of the best moments occur between Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda as they joke around in between takes — and sometimes during them.

“Ugh, I’m sorry,” Tomlin laments at one point, sinking into a chair. “I forgot my lines. And it’s not because I’m old! It’s because I never learned them.”

The final episodes of the series debuted on Netflix April 29.

After seven magnificently funny and poignant seasons, Netflix’s “Grace & Frankie” is coming to an end with the airing of its final episodes starting April 29. And what better way to celebrate than to look back at how the magic was made from the eyes of its stars, the incomparable Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, along with the show’s creators/showrunners/executive producers Marta Kauffman and Howard J. But the Netflix comedy was a juggernaut hit for the streaming platform, and kind of a unicorn in terms of its longevity. Upon its final season, which arrives this month, “Grace and Frankie” is the longest-running Netflix original series in the history of the service. But as the old adage says, all good things must come to an end.

On Thursday, the official trailer for the seventh and final season of “Grace and Frankie” was released by Netflix and the marketing materials tease an emotional farewell to the long-running comedy series.

Best Reason to Watch: You remember “Russian Doll” Season 1, right? Natasha Lyonne’s half-hour time loop comedy scored 13 Emmy nominations (and won three) after its breakout debut in February 2019. Grace and Frankie’s time is coming to a close as the Netflix series wrapped filming last night for the remaining episodes of its upcoming seventh and final season.

Crew members of the Netflix comedy shared behind-the-scenes photos of the series’ final moments on-set at Hollywood’s Sunset Gower Studios on late on Wednesday. “When your whole #family agrees to an #epic #selfie #farewell #graceandfrankie I love you all,” said Luke Miller in his Instagram post.

The post by the co-cinematographer, along with Gale Tattersall, saw a giant selfie with the stars Jane Fonda and Lilly Tomlin in the center, surrounded by various members of the series’ team. Netflix has surprise-released the first four episodes of “Grace and Frankie” Season 7 months ahead of the show’s formal return.

The first four installments of the Netflix comedy’s 16-episode final season are now available to stream on the platform. Stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin recorded a video announcing the surprise premiere (apparently the second choice to surprising fans with Del Taco gift cards) that was released on the show’s social media accounts Friday.

The final 12 episodes of the season will air sometime in 2022.

“Grace and Frankie” was picked up for a seventh and final season nearly two years ago, but production on the final season was delayed by the pandemic. By the time the show wraps up next year, it will be Netflix’s longest-running original series with a total of 94 episodes.

Showrunner Marta Kauffman teased some of what to expect from the final season in an interview with TheWrap last year.

Before the sixth season of “Grace & Frankie” premiered in January, Netflix renewed the Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin-led comedy for a seventh and final year with an episode order that will make it the streaming service’s longest running original series.

And though production began on Season 7 before the pandemic hit, co-creator Marta Kauffman is unsure when things will pick back up again for the series, given that it has to take into account something not every show looking to resume filming now that California has given the greenlight for projects to do so.

“We have shot through the middle of Episode 5. We are continuing the writers’ room. We are getting towards the end of the season in terms of the writing and we completely expect to be back at some point and shooting it — but I don’t know when,” Kauffman told TheWrap. “It really depends on how it goes.

Netflix is inviting fans to YouTube and Chill with the cast of Grace and Frankie.

Beginning tonight at 8/7c, the comedy’s entire ensemble — Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker, Baron Vaughn and Ethan Embry, as well as showrunners Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris — will gather for a virtual table read of the upcoming seventh (and final!) season premiered, ominously titled “The Fallout.”

Exclusive: Filming of the seventh and final season of Netflix’s comedy series Grace and Frankie has been put on pause. The decision, which came after the show wrapped production for the day Thursday, was confirmed by series producer Skydance Television.

“To ensure the health and safety of our cast and crew, Skydance has temporarily suspended filming for Grace and Frankie, the series,” the company said in a statement to Deadline. I hear there is no return date set, with the producers monitoring the situation daily.

As fate would have it, Norman Lear gave Marta Kauffman, recipient of this year’s Norman Lear Achievement Award in Television at the PGA Awards, her first job in television development close to 35 years ago. The result was “The Powers That Be,” which Kauffman created with David Crane and Lear executive produced. The NBC sitcom aired for two seasons between 1992 and 1993.

Like Lear, Kauffman is prolific. In addition to “Friends,” she is responsible for co-creating “Dream On,” “Veronica’s Closet” and most recently, “Grace and Frankie.” During “Friends’ ” 10-season run between 1994 and 2004, the show received 62 Emmy nominations and won for outstanding comedy series in 2002.

When “Friends” came to a close, Kauffman admits that she was in “a state.” “That year David [Crane] and I decided, amicably, that we wouldn’t be writing together anymore,” Kauffman says. “I was also turning 50, my oldest daughter was going to college and I was going through menopause.

The digital platform has handed the Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin comedy a 16-episode run for its final season, taking the total number of episodes to 94.

This comes ahead of the premiere of season six, which will premiere in January 2020.

Fonda, Tomlin, Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker, Baron Vaughn, and Ethan Embry will all return for the seventh season of the Skydance Television-produced series.
