Walking Dead: The Exact Moment Rick Became a 'Living Zombie'
Image
Contains discussion of sexual violence.

Image Comics' The Walking Dead has achieved great success due to its commentary on the dangerous capabilities of humanity when faced with dreadful circumstances. Throughout the 193-issue series, co-creator Robert Kirkman and artists Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore put lead protagonist Rick Grimes and his group of survivors through the wringer that is the zombie apocalypse. However, it's only when faced with a pair of foes who threaten everything he holds dear that Rick ultimately reaches a moment where he's indistinguishable form the zombie horde.

In issue #57 - running low on food and supplies - Rick prepares to venture back to his old hometown of Cynthiana, Kentucky with his son Carl and new group member Sgt. Abraham Ford. During a brief evening pause at a rest stop, Rick, Abraham, and Carl are taken unaware and ambushed by a trio of armed bandits. The bandits initially...

The Walking Dead Original Comics Can Return As Soon As Robert Kirkman Agrees
Image
Skybound Entertainment co-founder and CEO David Alpert reveals that the possibility of The Walking Dead original comic book series continuing is completely up to Robert Kirkman. The Walking Dead comic, created by Kirkman and Tony Moore, was first published in October 2003 and ran for sixteen years, with the final issue, #193, released in July 2019. Kirkman shocked longtime readers when he decided to end the long-running comic book series without warning. Issue #193 picks up twenty-five years after the events of issue #192, with a new world order in place.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Alpert explains that Skybound Entertainment is open to The Walking Dead original comic series continuing if Kirkman decides he is interested. Alpert shares a deep love for The Walking Dead, including the novels, the Clementine graphic novel, and the original graphic novel series. He also reveals that he, like many fans, is curious about what happened between...

Why Walking Dead's Creator Never Wanted Its Zombies to 'Evolve'
Image
Image Comics' The Walking Dead from creators Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore has become one of the most definitive representations of zombie mythology in entertainment. However, the Eisner Award-winning comic book series may not have reached the heights of its popularity without George A. Romero's highly influential Night of the Living Dead film series. Romero's cult classic films reinvigorated life into the zombie genre for modern moviegoers and introduced a variety of zombies that would continuously advance throughout several films.

Kirkman had other plans in mind for his zombies that would inhabit the world occupied by core character Rick Grimes and the remaining survivors of the human population. These zombies are fairly identical to the titular undead specimens from Romero's 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead in which they are robbed of their average human intelligence and receive a new goal... to eat the brains of surviving humans. In...

Walking Dead Creator Admits The Zombie Lore He Still Regrets
Image
When building the world of a major crossover entertainment franchise, it’s only natural that some decisions might appear slipshod in hindsight, but as far as The Walking Dead is concerned, writer Robert Kirkman has one regret that stings like no other. Currently commentating his blockbuster comic series in a color re-release entitled The Walking Dead Deluxe, Kirkman recently revealed one of his least favorite aspects of the gritty yet beloved story, and the answer may come as a surprise.

The Walking Dead spanned #193 issues from 2003 to 2019, published by Image Comics, and later spun off into an empire of Walking Dead tv shows, videogames, and other assorted media. A bleak and harrowing horror story centered around the redoubtable Rick Grimes and his band of beleaguered survivors, Twd won praise from fans and critics alike for its consummate world-building, as Kirkman and artists Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard took readers through...

The Walking Dead Final Season Coming to Netflix Sooner Than You Think
Image
The Walking Dead season 11 is set to come to Netflix incredibly soon. The post-apocalyptic zombie series, which is based on the Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard graphic novel series of the same name, originally began airing on AMC in 2010. With an ever-expanding and contracting cast that included Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, and Danai Gurira, the gory and popular drama ran for 11 seasons, during which time it racked up 16 Emmy nominations and won 2.

Without much fanfare, Netflix officially listed the streaming premiere date of The Walking Dead season 11 on the streaming service's page for the overall series. According to their announcement, the season will arrive very soon into the New Year, on Friday, January 6. This comes just under two months after the series aired its finale on AMC on November 20, 2022.

Walking Dead Finale’s Big Moments Become Comic Panels In Stylish Fan Art
Image
New artwork for The Walking Dead reimagines the series finale's big moments into stylized comic panels. The Walking Dead began as a comic book in 2003 by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore before becoming one of the most popular shows in modern television. The Walking Dead concluded its long run after 177 episodes with the series finale aptly titled Rest in Peace. Although the main show reached its end, The Walking Dead universe appears to only be getting started, with several announced spinoff series.

WalkerWyn took to Twitter to share The Walking Dead inspired art that recreates the big moments from the series finale in classic comic book style. The stylish art features several main characters from the major moments of The Walking Dead's series finale, ranging from Negan and Maggie in a much-needed heart-to-heart conversation to a spinoff-bound Rick Grimes. Walking Dead Creator Reveals the Series' Tagline Was Always a Lie
Image
In the post-apocalyptic undead world of The Walking Dead, series creator Robert Kirkman once billed his violent epic as "the zombie movie that never ends,” with an early interview seeing Kirkman admit that this tagline was a complete and total lie right from the start!

Hitting comic shop shelves in 2003, The Walking Dead exploded in popularity relatively early in its eventual decade-plus run, leading to spinoff books, video games, and of course, a long-running television series that just recently concluded its final season. Grabbing the attention of fans and critics alike with its rich world-building, large cast of diverse and nuanced characters, brutal over-the-top violence, and more undead walkers than Rick Grimes and company could shake a dismembered limb at, The Walking Dead was unlike anything that had come before it, even having a hand in reviving interest in the zombie genre as a whole!

Walking Dead's Daryl Spinoff Gets More Story Details From Norman Reedus
Image
Norman Reedus shares new details about his The Walking Dead universe spinoff Daryl Dixon. The road has finally ended for AMC’s long-running zombie drama based on the comic book from Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore. But the Walking Dead Universe appears to just be getting started, as three new Twd spinoffs are set to launch in the coming months. Arguably the most interesting of these spinoffs is Daryl Dixon, a show centered on Reedus’ fan-favorite character.

The Walking Dead’s series finale indeed ended with Daryl climbing on his trusty motorcycle and riding off to find new adventures in the world of the post-apocalypse (without his best friend Carol). It’s already been revealed that Daryl ultimately winds up in France, where he makes some shocking new discoveries about the nature of the virus that caused the zombie outbreak in the first place. Now Reedus himself has filled in...

The Walking Dead’s Original Ending Proves The Show's Biggest Mistake
Image
Spoilers for The Walking Dead television series and comics below! This month, The Walking Dead television series came to an end, but the series finale ultimately revealed the biggest mistake the live-action adaptation of the comic book ever made: killing Carl Grimes. While the TV series concluded with Rick Grimes living as the character will star in his own spinoff series, the original Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard comic book had a much more impactful ending in a story centered around Carl.

The Walking Dead comic book is one of the most successful comics of all time, as the Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard series ran for 193 issues from 2003 to 2019. The Skybound/Image Comics series, telling the tale of a group of survivors during the zombie apocalypse, featured plenty of twists and turns, with no character safe from being killed. However, one character who lasted the entire series,...

‘The Walking Dead’ Worst Deviations From the Comics
Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
After 11 seasons and 177 episodes, AMC’s The Walking Dead has finally shambled toward the moral coil. After becoming the House that Walt built, the network followed up in 2010 with a post-apocalyptic comic book adaptation by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. And although there were a few deviations from the original source material, showrunner Frank Darabont steered the ship in an engaging way that pleased veteran comic fans and television newcomers alike. That is until Darabont was fired after the second season, then things creatively and behind the scenes began to decay. According to AMC’s lawyers, he was terminated due to “his volatile and disturbing interactions with the staff and talent.” Darabont won a 2013 profit suit against AMC in 2021 with a settlement of 200 million. Following his win, a group of producers, including Kirkman himself, are looking for a similar settlement as the series finale approaches. The network has...

Where Did The Walking Dead Go Wrong?
Image
"The Walking Dead" may be officially ending with its series finale tonight, but it lived up to its title long before that. Once one of the most talked-about shows on TV, the series became a shell of its former self, shambling along like a zombie even as it bled viewers and left critics increasingly underwhelmed. For the record, season 5 was when I jumped ship and the season 6 finale killed any chance of the show winning me back.

It may not have been in the same storytelling league as AMC's crown jewels like "Breaking Bad" or "Mad Men," but "The Walking Dead" was a ratings juggernaut. From 2010 to 2017, viewership for "The Walking Dead" kept climbing. Then during season 7, the trend reversed. The season's premiere, "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be," brought in 17.03 million viewers. The next episode, "The Well," dropped nearly 5 million to 12.46. Compare the show's ratings peak,...

Two Actors Join 'The Walking Dead' Cast As New Characters
With production already well-underway on the first episode of "The Walking Dead," further casting reports have continued to emerge.

According to The Walking Dead Podcast (via Bloody Disgusting), Linds Edwards and Jim Coleman are the latest actors to sign on to appear in "The Walking Dead." During an interview with Edwards, he revealed that Coleman will portray a new character named Lambert Kendel while Edwards (pictured) will play another new character, Leon Bassett.

It's worth noting that AMC subsequently asked that the podcast in question be removed.

As an actor, Edwards is relatively unknown, having appeared in "Seed," "In a Blink" and "A Rats Tale." However, Coleman has an extensive resume of roles, including "American Gangster," "Burn Notice," "ER," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Sheena."

Earlier this week, Chandler Riggs was cast as Carl Grimes, the son of the lead characters Rick and Lori Grimes, portrayed by Andrew Lincoln and Sarah Wayne Callies,...
