WWE has a bad habit of retelling stories, and then treating their version of the narrative as the single true one. That extends to presenting their own storylines as actual wrestling history, muddying the distinction between work and shoot still further. Nowhere is their revisionist approach to real life events any more evident than in their refusal to acknowledge the pre-WWE background of many of the people that have performed for them over the years.

Last year’s brilliantly-produced tribute videos for Dusty Rhodes and Roddy Piper showcased clips of their careers outside of the WWF/E, giving credence to the legendary status attributed to them.

By contrast, their tribute video for William Moody two years earlier was a whitewash: a montage of the man in his role as Paul Bearer, the Undertaker’s manager and father figure, and talking head footage of various WWE superstars talking...

The late WWE manager and former wrestler was commemorated on March 11 during Monday Night Raw with a touching video, and a tribute by his good friend and protege The Undertaker. Read on for more details.

Even though Bill Moody, better known by his stage name Paul Bearer, died on March 5, his legacy as a WWE manager and legend will live on forever — especially after a touching tribute on Monday Night Raw on March 11.

The Monday Night Raw match in Indianapolis opened up with a video in honor of Paul. Then, His protege The Undertaker, with whom Paul had first started working more than 20 years ago, remembered his beloved manager by taking the ring with Paul’s famous gold urn on a pedestal. The Undertaker knelt before the urn, to show is respect to the man who made him a WWE superstar.

For non-wrestling fans the outpouring of grief for Bill Moody (better known as WWE's Paul Bearer) must be a strange thing to behold. After all, here was a man who had never wrestled a match, never headlined Wrestlemania. But he was somebody who seemed to embody a flamboyantly over-the-top vision of wrestling many of us miss today.

He began his career as Percival "Percy" Pringle III, a manager in south-eastern independent promotions and owner of a truly brilliant name. But it wasn't until he entered the WWE as The Undertaker's pasty faced keeper and holder of “the power of the urn” that he captured fans hearts. An integral part of the deadman's utterly bonkers back story, he betrayed and reunited with the near seven foot legend more times than most fans care to count.

Wrestling legend Paul Bearer will be laid to rest tomorrow following his funeral in his home state of Alabama.The funeral services will be taking place at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Mobile, Al at 10Am. Paul -- real name Bill Moody -- will be buried after in neighboring Serenity Memorial Gardens.As we reported, Paul passed away Tuesday evening after suffering a blood clot. He was 58.Paul is survived by his parents, children, and grandchildren.

The upcoming direct-to-disc horror flick, Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead, now has a gore-filled red band trailer. Directed by Declan O'Brien, the film arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray later this year and stars Tom Frederic, Janet Montgomery, Tamer Hassan, Gil Kolirin, Bill Moody, Mike Straub, Chucky Venice and Tom McKay. It pretty much follows the same plot as the previous Wrong Turn’s - a group of people find themselves trapped in the backwoods of West Virginia, fighting for their lives against a group of vicious and horribly disfigured inbred cannibals.
