Today, Disney Branded Television announced the official title for the fifth film of the Descendants franchise. Descendants 5 will now officially be known as Descendants: Wicked Wonderland.

The title announcement also included confirmation that Brandy will reprise her role as Cinderella and Rita Ora will return as the Queen of Hearts. Filming is currently underway, with the fifth installment of the franchise targeting a 2026 premiere on Disney+ and Disney Channel.

The fifth film, now titled “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland,” will see Brandy once again play Cinderella with Ora again playing the Queen of Hearts. The romantic comedy, penned by Mike Ang, toplines “Hook” alum Dante Basco and Filipino star Kc Concepcion (“Boy Golden: Shoot to Kill”).

Hawaii-based Scatena & Rosner Films has acquired the worldwide rights to the romantic comedy. The film tells the story of a lovable underachiever who hatches an outrageous scheme to avoid paying alimony to his fashion-executive ex-wife.

Scatena & Rosner Films will release the film itself in the North American or ‘domestic’ market and has earmarked a Spring 2025 date. The company will begin rights licensing in all other territories from next week’s AFM in Las Vegas (Nov. 5-10).

The You & I artist explained why the Cinderella (1997) star told her to “stop” apologizing on the set of Descendants: The Rise of Red, which is now available to stream on Disney+ ahead of its August 9 Disney Channel premiere.

She recalled filming an “iconic” coup scene in which her Queen of Hearts character takes Brandy’s Cinderella as a hostage. “‘Off with her head!’ It’s a very iconic quote for Queen of Hearts, and I was trying to find my version of that,” Ora told Entertainment Weekly.

But Ora found it difficult pretending to be mean to the Moesha alum, whom she “would try and imitate every day in my bedroom” as a kid.

“Every scene after that, I would be like, ‘I’m so sorry, I don’t mean it,'” she added.

On Wednesday, Disney shared a new look at the upcoming film “Descendants: The Rise of Red”, revealing Brandy as the iconic character in the film.

The 44-year-old will star alongside Paolo Montalban as King Charming.

In a video shared by the official “Descendants” account on Twitter, the two actors introduce themselves in costume, on the set of the new entry in the franchise.
