- Gaston Modot was born on December 31, 1887 in Paris, France. He was an actor and writer, known for La grande illusion (1937), La règle du jeu (1939) and Les enfants du paradis (1945). He died on February 19, 1970 in Le Raincy, Seine-Saint-Denis, France.
- Powerfully-built, dark-haired French leading actor. In films from 1910, appearing in numerous short comedies. Capable of playing humorous or villainous roles with equal verve. Perhaps best remembered for his thuggish gamekeeper in La règle du jeu (1939).
