  • Plays for weekly Wednesday night meditation services at Founder's Church Center for Positive Spirituality in Los Angeles. (December 2008)
  • In the mid 1930s, organized the Robert Mitchell Boy Choir.
  • His father was mayor of Sierra Madre, CA from 1918-1924.
  • Played organ for films five times a week at the Strand Theater (Pasadena, CA) from ages 12-16.
  • When the Dodgers baseball club moved to Los Angeles, Mitchell was their first stadium organist in Chavez Ravine.
  • He attended the New York College of Music, but returned to Los Angeles in 1934 because his father was ill. Eventually, he graduated from what is now Cal State L.A., and Trinity College London.
  • Played regularly at Vitello's Restaurant in San Fernando valley, California (June 2006)
  • Believed to be the only surviving accompanist from the silent-film era, he still occasionally performs at silent films - at age 89 - in the Los Angeles area, often at the well-known Silent Movie Theater. (2002)
