A year after NCIS: Hawai’i ended its three-season run on CBS, the state’s film and TV industry continues to suffer a decline in business.
Jason Antoon, who played cyber intelligence specialist Ernie Malik on the police procedural spin-off, recently shared a video of the series’ vacant and overgrown Hollywood Film Studio, where shows like Lost (2004-’10), Hawaii Five-0 (2010-’20) and Magnum P.I. (2018-’24) also filmed.
“Hawaii Film Studios – Empty and full of weeds,” wrote Antoon, sharing the clip Friday on X.
Hawaii is an expensive location that is harder to fit into continuously trimmed TV budgets, especially in linear TV. Cost was among the factors for CBS’ decision to cancel NCIS: Hawai’i after three seasons, despite being the #12 most watched non-sports program on broadcast, averaging 7.8 million linear viewers and 10M multi-platform viewers (Live+35).
After the cancelation last April, Antoon wrote on Instagram, “This business is brutal and makes no sense.

With less than 10 minutes to go before Netflix’s fan extravaganza Tudum began streaming live from the Kia Forum on Saturday, the crowd inside the Inglewood arena was noticeably sparse and listless. More than half the seats remained empty, and those who were there weren’t buzzing with anticipation so much as they were politely hanging out. To boost everyone’s energy, a pre-show emcee turned up the music, commanded everyone to get out of their seats, and began shouting out some Netflix luminaries who were about to take the stage.
“The cast of ‘Outer Banks’ is here!” he said, to tepid applause. “The cast of ‘Stranger Things’ is here!” he continued, to moderate cheers. “Lady Gaga is here!” he concluded, and the audience, finally, began to roar.
Once Tudum got underway, the Forum did fill up (though not to capacity), and the audience did respond with genuine enthusiasm for...

Netflix's Tudum event shared very few details about their upcoming reality TV premieres, instead sharing information about scripted shows and one new reality TV addition to the lineup. While Tudum, Netflix's annual event where they reveal what's coming in the calendar year for upcoming shows, has been something viewers have looked forward to each year, it's not always a hit. While it seemed like it was promising to share more about the upcoming seasons of Love Is Blind andAmerica's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, viewers found themselves disappointed in the updates provided by the streaming platform, information was minimal.
With no premiere dates for Love Is Blind season 9, which was filmed in Denver, Colorado and will be hosted once again by Nick & Vanessa Lachey, as well as information about the next installment of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, there wasn't a lot to unpack from Netflix's Tudum. The universe has expanded exponentially from the first NCIS installment to several spinoffs, sequels, and international editions. Fans are always excited to witness a new edition of the crime, investigative, and action-filled world of NCIS. Here are the spin-offs and installments the franchise currently has.

NCIS reintroduced a beloved character to the franchise in the form of NCIS: Los Angeles’s LL Cool J. Not only did his character, Sam Hanna, come to aid on a case, but he also gave us some updates on the most notable characters from NCIS: LA and Hawaii.
In the episode, the team investigated a quadruple homicide in which a suspect found covered in blood refused to speak to anyone except Sam. Even though Sam no longer worked as an agent, he did spend time trying to convince politicians to help veterans and people overseas. The team went to Sam for help, finding out he did know Mark but he did not believe the man was capable of murder.
Even though the man gave his name as Mark Davis, who had fought alongside Sam during their time in the marines, he was actually Mark’s brother, Roger.

CBS really pulled the plug on one of its most groundbreaking shows. When NCIS: Hawai’i debuted in 2021, it made waves not just for its tropical backdrop but also for the fact that, for the first time in the show’s history, a female was leading the show. In this case, it was actress Vanessa Lachey who took the helm and gained a huge fan following.
But the show was abruptly cancelled, leaving many disheartened. Now, Lachey’s recent comment has reignited fan frustrations, and I wonder what CBS was thinking when they decided to cancel the show.
Vanessa Lachey surely deserved better
NCIS: Hawai’i was a fresh addition to the world of crime drama, and I, for one, was absolutely thrilled. It not only expanded the NCIS universe but also presented a female lead, which was quite different from all the other shows.

Temptation Island is officially the hottest reality show of the year so far! After moving from the USA Network to Netflix, a new season of Temptation Island hosted by Mark L. Walberg hit Netflix this spring, and it was a huge hit for the streamer!
After binge-watching all 10 episodes of Temptation Island's first season on Netflix and following all of the drama that happened after with these four couples, fans want more shows like Temptation Island to watch right now. And, we don't blame them. I always give the new dating shows a watch because I'm a fiend like that, but I have to say: some of them just aren't very good! There aren't many shows that capture the drama and real emotion like Temptation Island on right now.
With that said, I do have a few shows in mind that Temptation Island fans need to watch right now...

NCIS fans won’t have to wait long for a new episode as we are getting a fun new episode on March 28, 2025. What is happening in the episode and what else are we looking forward to?
In the previous episode, we did see some movement in Parker learning more about his mother’s death and the connection to the mysterious Lily. While we know this is a thread that will likely keep going for a few more episodes, we are at least getting to see more about the lives of other characters, such as Nick Torres.
Nick takes center stage in new episode “T’N’T” – NCIS Agents Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) travel to Hawai’i when they learn a key witness in one of their old cases has turned up there with crucial evidence, on a special crossover episode of the CBS Original series NCIS: Hawai`I,...

NCIS is bringing in a huge NCIS: Los Angeles guest star that might finally bring closure for a key character! Who's back, and what does this mean for Hetty?
At one point, NCIS was a far bigger franchise with spinoffs in Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Hawaii. 2023 saw a big crossover between the shows, made just before NCIS: Los Angeles ended its 14-season run.
That was followed by LL Cool J heading to NCIS: Hawaii as his character of agent Sam Hanna. It was supposed to be a boost for that show only for NCIS: Hawaii to shockingly be canceled in 2024.
While the current season of NCIS has had a few mentions of the other teams, we haven't got more than that. Thankfully for fans, it’s now confirmed that we’re seeing Sam coming back to the franchise!

NCIS may be one of the longest-running TV dramas, but it seems the franchise still has some surprises in store. A recent announcement about the series' ongoing 22nd season reveals a fan-favorite character will be returning.
CBS has confirmed the reprisal of LL Cool J's Sam Hanna in the April 21 episode of NCIS. In an NCISverse Instagram post, LL Cool J announced, "Back on set, baby! NCIS. Let’s get it." NCIS actor Brian Dietzen reportedly teased this appearance to TV Insider when asked if there would be any returning characters in Season 22, saying, "There are. I just worked with one, and I’m not allowed to tell you, but I’ll tell you it’s someone from NCIS‘s past, and it’s going to be fantastic, and I think people will lose their s**t."

NCIS seemed like one of those franchises. You know? One that would be able to set a spinoff in any setting, with any cast of characters, and be to secure a decade long run on CBS. Well, turns out that is not the case, and NCIS: Hawai'i was the proof. The show was canceled after only three seasons.
But why? Fans seemed to be over the moon for the cast, and Hawai'i even made the tactical move of bringing in a beloved NCIS: Los Angeles character to boost its ties to the rest of the franchise? Well, the way CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach put it, the spinoff was not profitable enough following the Hollywood strikes.
NCIS: Hawai'i was canceled due to dwindling ratings “Blind Curves” – The NCIS team’s investigation takes them deep into the world of illegal street racing after a Marine staff sergeant’s body is discovered in a junkyard.

One of CBS’s most beloved shows has gone international. NCIS, the popular and long-running military criminal investigation series, has produced several spin-offs over the years, but this time it’s moved the crime tracking down under. NCIS: Sydney, the first of the NCIS franchise to go international, was recently renewed for Season 3 on CBS and Paramount. Fans of the original NCIS who aren’t watching are really missing out.
The fourth spin-off of the popular NCIS franchise, NCIS: Sydney joined CBS’ impressive catalog of crime investigation dramas with its premiere in 2023. Following a joint task force between American NCIS agents and Australian police, the series takes the familiar smart and sleek NCIS style and adds an international twist. While critics have generally praised the series, it has been a letdown for fans so far. But while the series, currently in its sophomore season, may have a number of growing pains,...

CBS seemed ready to shake things up with its first female-led NCIS spinoff, but instead of breaking new ground, the show got the axe before it even took off. Despite the backlash, the network stood firm, pointing to financial realities as the deciding factor. In a world where NCIS thrives as a TV juggernaut, why did this ambitious project fail to make the cut?

First, let’s recap what went down when the pod squad got back together. Co-hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey caught up with Johnny and Amy, the sole couple to make it out of the experiment as husband and wife. Yes, they are still very much in love and have, in fact, heard of condoms. Laura appeared virtually to confront a united Jeramey and Sarah Ann, who are now a full-fledged couple. Love Is Blind is hands down one of the most engaging unscripted series on Netflix. Introduced by power couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey, single men and women agree to come on a show and speak to the opposite sex through a wall in hopes of connecting emotionally before physical appearance presents a distraction. Hollywood couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey greet the singles separately in a men's lounge and a women's lounge before they disappear to allow them to find connection in the pods. The pods can be a scary place with miscommunication, assumptions and projections between the sexes.

Well, it was another roller-coaster season on Love Is Blind.
Five couples got engaged in the pods, but only four made it to the altar. That doesn’t mean, of course, that those four all said “I do.”
In fact, it wasn’t a very successful season from a marital standpoint, as only one couple wound up tying the knot.
Monica and Joey on Love Is Blind Season 8. (Netflix)
So who was the lucky pair who took the plunge? And why did all the others hold off?
Let’s take a look:
Monica and Joey
We’ll start with Monica and Joey, who seemed like one of this season’s safest bets.
After some initial rockiness involving her sister, these two successfully weathered every storm together, and it seemed like they were destined for marriage.
So you can imagine our surprise when they decided not to get married.

Bundle up and prepare to melt your cold heart, because Love Is Blind has touched down in Minneapolis for Season 8.
This Valentine’s Day, the global dating experiment returned, marking the five-year anniversary of the series. Like the many singles before them, a new group of men and women fell in love and got engaged all before ever seeing one another face-to-face. With co-hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey by their side, this fresh crop of romantics seeking the soul connection of a lifetime entered the pods to find out whether love is truly blind.
So, who are they? The Season 8 pod squad includes 32 singles — the largest group to date — ranging in age from 26 to 43 years old. Among them are three nurses, several former cheerleaders, many world travelers, and more than a few self-described Christmas enthusiasts — no, seriously, they really love Christmas. As for...

The Love Is Blind season eight is coming to an end!
The Netflix dating experiment will wrap up it’s latest season in just a few days, with the season finale premiering on Friday (March 7) and the reunion debuting on Sunday (March 9).
This season followed singles from Minnesota, and saw them “form deep and immediate connections, setting the stage for an unexpected journey full of twists, turns, and shocking revelations that will test each relationship well after the participants leave the pods for the real world.”
There has been plenty of drama throughout the 11 episodes so far, from a love square to a single thinking their new significant other already knew who they were, and even another engaged couple breaking up after one couldn’t get over the other’s past.
Ahead of the reunion, Netflix unveiled 16 of the season eight contestants’ looks at the upcoming finale event to end the season.

All season long, there were rumblings that one of the FBI spinoffs were destined for cancellation.

The only silver lining in this messy decision is that both series will likely get some form of closure.

Love Is Blind is gearing up to end its eighth season, which saw another group of singles hoping to find the loves of their lives, “sight unseen” as the show’s tagline reads. The singles met in pods, struck up conversations, and formed deep, meaningful connections. A total of five couples proposed and were featured in the big reveals, then continued their journeys to the aisle.
Not everyone made it to the final stages, and there were engagements that occurred off-camera as well, along with couples who dated after breaking up in the pods. Needless to say, there’s lots of juicy conversation set for the confirmed reunion.

The pods are now open and several singles from Minnesota are hoping to find their soulmates on Love Is Blind Season 8. The first batch of episodes came out last week, and viewers couldn't help but notice that the six episodes that dropped on streaming were solely focused on the pods. Previous seasons of the Netflix reality hit hosted by Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey would only dedicate the first three to four episodes to this portion of the experiment. The remaining ones center on the couples' interactions during their honeymoon trip, as well as their connections in the real world.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have returned for another season of Love is Blind. Through the first six episodes, we saw many love triangles, breakups, and five engagements. We share who gets engaged and the odds of whether they will get married.
Over the last few seasons, we have seen some off-the-screen drama attempt to overshadow the show, but personally, the fact that people are still getting married and staying together keeps me coming back for more. The concept of “Love is Blind” might sound crazy, but we’ve seen some fantastic couples power through this experiment and cross that finish line. Not without faults, this Minnesota cast started strong, seeing five couples get engaged on screen.

On Thursday, Netflix revealed its full 2025 TV slate. It also includes promising-sounding limited series like Black Rabbit and The Four Seasons, returns of longtime Netflix favorites like Black Mirror and Chef’s Table, an overwhelming number of sports documentaries, and dozens more shows.
The biggest piece of news in the announcement is the startlingly soon release date for Squid Game Season 3. The second and third seasons shot back-to-back, and so the final season is slated for June 27, just six months after the release of Season 2. The quest to find love, sight unseen, continues as Netflix has renewed “Love Is Blind” through Season 10.
The Emmy-nominated reality series that gained popularity during the Covid-19 pandemic has captivated audiences for five years now. Season 8’s premiere will mark the franchise’s fifth anniversary.
This Valentine’s Day, a new batch of hopeful singles from Minneapolis will test out the love experiment and discover for themselves if love is truly blind. There’s no denying that Gibbs was the draw of NCIS for many years, and while the show has bounced back creatively in his absence, he’s still a missing piece of the puzzle.
