    • Manuel 'Guajiro' Mirabal was born on May 5, 1933 in Melena del Sur, Cuba. He was an actor, known for Ibrahim Ferrer: Mi sueño, a bolero songbook tour. Part 1 (2005), Ibrahim Ferrer: Mi sueño, gira del cancionero bolero. Parte 2 (2005) and Buena Vista Social Club (1999). He died on October 28, 2024 in Havana, Cuba.

Trivia

  • In 1996 "Guajiro" became one of the Cuban musicians who joined American guitarist Ry Cooder for the Buena Vista Social Club collaboration. "Guajiro" went on to play a prominent role playing lead trumpet on both records and performances for the group, featuring in the 1999 movie also titled Buena Vista Social Club.
  • In 2004 Mirabal released an album in partnership with Buena Vista Social Club entitled Buena Vista Social Club Presents Manuel Guajiro Mirabal which was widely acclaimed and became another part of the Buena Vista Social Club collection.
  • Manuel "Guajiro" Mirabal was a Cuban trumpeter, best known for his work with the Buena Vista Social Club.
  • He was a member of prominent Cuban orchestras, such as the Conjunto Rumbavana and the Orquesta Riverside, but it was his participation in the Buena Vista Social Club project that crowned his fame.
  • Mirabal began his musical career in 1951 and played the trumpet for more than 70 years.
