Biography

    • John Miltern was born on July 13, 1870 in New Britain, Connecticut, USA. He was an actor, known for L'horrible méprise (1923), Sunya (1927) and Everybody's Old Man (1936). He died on January 15, 1937 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Trivia

  • He was out walking his dog with his friend and roommate, Basil Rathbone, when he was run over by a hit and run driver. Rathbone barely escaped injury. At Miltern's funeral, Rathbone delivered the eulogy and Bobby Breen sang "Ave Maria.".
  • Basil Rathbone managed to take down the license plate number of the car that had killed his friend. The next day the LA police arrested Logan Metcalf, ex-husband of Madge Bellamy, but an inquest by a coroner's jury deemed the accident "unavoidable" and absolved him of any blame, even though he admitted leaving the scene.
