He was married to Jessie D. Lockwood and Victory Bateman. He died on January 22, 1958 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.

  • Distinguished-looking character actor of the Broadway stage (from 1902) and in silent films. Usually seen in authoritarian roles.
  • Harry's first wife, Victory Bateman, was a niece of John Wilkes Booth.
  • Harry's father was Charles H. Mestayer, who was also an actor. He died in January of 1900 while on tour in Ottawa, Canada. His mother was an actress known professionally as Helen(e) Brooks.
