The Toronto Film Festival has unveiled its lineup for the Industry Selects program of films beyond the official fest lineup and available for worldwide acquisition as each gets an in-person screening for film buyers and industry execs.

Leading the selection is director James Marsh’s Dance First, a biopic with Gabriel Byrne playing the literary giant Samuel Beckett and Sandrine Bonnaire, Maxine Peake, Aidan Gillen and Fionn O’Shea also starring; and director Neil Burger’s Inheritance, a thriller that has a woman played by Phoebe Dynevor learning her father Sam (Rhys Ifans) was once a spy, which puts her at the center of an international conspiracy.

Also picked for market screenings in Toronto is Jimmy Warden’s Borderline, set in 1996 Los Angeles and starring Eric Dane, Ray Nicholson and Samara Weaving as a pop star taken hostage; The Home, a horror pic from Purge series creator James DeMonaco, and starring...

Fest also announces Connections, Microsessions, and Spotlight sessions.

TIFF has announced the Industry Selects acquisition titles available to buyers during the festival, a 12-strong roster featuring new work from James Marsh, Rebecca Snow, and Neil Burger.

So scary! Officials have learned that a Via Rail train collided with an Ottawa Carlton Transit bus on September 18, and has resulted in at least five deaths.

At least a dozen injuries have been reported after a train crashed into a double-decker Oc Transpo bus at 8:48 a.m. Et on the southwest end of Ottawa, near the intersection of Woodroffe Ave. and Fallowfield Rd.

The Oc Transpo bus driver and four passengers are dead, Ottawa police confirmed according to the Ottawa Citizen.

One passenger, Robert Kurtenbach was riding on the upper level of the bus on his way to work, when he saw the bus. “The bus didn’t appear to slow down,” he told the Citizen.

After Dans une galaxie près de chez vous, Quebeckers will see another cinematographic adaptation of a homegrown hit TV series. In fact, Lance et compte's trailer is already online and the film will hit Quebec's theatres on November 26, 2010.

The film talks about the National, a professional hockey team hailing from Quebec City. After an exhibition game in a small town, the players of the National must go back to Quebec City on the team's bus. However, because of an accident, half of the players in the team are dead. Besides, the team's general manager has to rebuild the National.

As always, Réjean Tremblay will pen the film's story and will be the producer alongside Caroline Héroux. Speaking about the director, it will be Frédéric D'Amours.

The film will star Marc Messier, Marina Orsini, Carl Marotte, Jason Roy-Léveillée, Denis Bouchard, Raymond Bouchard, Yvan Ponton, Hélène Florent, Pat Kiely, Elias Scoufaras and James A. Woods.

Since genre films are almost absent from the Canadian big screen, the creators of Grande ourse: La clé des possibles deserve to be lauded. In fact, this film is technically well directed as much as its Asian or American counterparts.
