Biography

    • P.N. Menon was born in 1926 in Vadakkancheri, Trichur, Kerala, British India. He was a director and writer, known for Olavum Theeravum (1970), Gayathri (1973) and Asthram (1983). He died on September 9, 2008 in Kochi, Kerala, India.

Trivia

  • Before taking up film directing, completed his studies at the Trichur School of Art, and then went to work in the Madras film industry taking up various positions like set-painter, visual artist and poster designer.
  • Won the J.C. Daniel Award for his lifelong contribution to Malayalam Cinema.
  • His first major film, Olavum Theeravum (1970), which tells the tale of an innocent Muslim girl from Malabar, served as an important link from when Malayalam cinema progressed from verbal expressions in stage dramas to the visual methods of communication as employed on film.
  • Malayalam film director and artist.
