When producer Jeremy Bolt read an article about the prehistoric bold snake Titanoboa, the largest snake ever known to have existed, living some 60 million years ago, he thought it would make for a good story.

There's a new creature feature to keep an eye on, and no, it's not the upcoming Anaconda reboot. However, that one should definitely be on your radar too! It's another giant snake horror movie called Titan, and Lionsgate has just obtained the rights to distribute the film in the United States.
We first learned of this movie back in February 2024. Resident Evil producers Constantin Film and Jb Pictures were revealed to be behind the project with Mike P. Nelson as director. Nelson had also signed on to co-write the script with Alan B. McElroy. We later learned that Tony Giglio (Doom: Annihilation) would also be helping write the script. In addition, Robert Kulzer of Constantin Film and Jeremy Bolt of Jb Pictures serve as producers. Executive producers include Sam Hall and Michael Rothstein for north.five.six.
Talented actresses Kiana Madeira and Jessica Rothe lead the cast. Both are modern scream queens.

Before USA Network became series-focused, the cable channel delivered a steady stream of weekly original movies. Many of which were produced by McA (now NBCUniversal). And during this era — between the late 1980s and early 2000s — USA offered a variety of genres; action and suspense were the most common, but horror also came up from time to time.
Especially around Halloween.
USA Network is no longer in the business of airing these “World Premiere Movies,” horror or otherwise, and there haven’t been great strides to bring all of them to streaming or modern home video. However, the horror entries certainly have their merits as well as fans.
See if you can remember these original movies from USA Network’s horror history.

Directed by Fred Walton, Trapped was one of USA’s first World Premiere Movies. Here Kathleen Quinlan starred in what feels like a blueprint for P2.

May of 2003 was almost bone-dry for big-screen horror until 20th Century Fox released Wrong Turn; director Rob Schmidt and screenwriter Alan B. McElroy’s collaboration arrived in theaters the weekend after Memorial Day. Later on, the fairly successful film inspired a whole franchise of follow-ups, which exceeded the original in terms of sheer gruesomeness. However, this underrated offering of backwoods horror still delivers in areas its direct descendants do not.
As a reflection of the real world, horror steadily became urbanized. The late 1990s had all but abandoned the great outdoors as a dreadful destination and backdrop, especially in the wake of Scream. No longer did characters have to leave their neighborhood in order to feel threatened. The next decade, however, saw a comeback for travel terror; vacations overseas and across borders commonly unfolded in horrific fashion, and local sojourns, like that of Wrong Turn, did not turn out any better.

In 1992, comic book writer and artist Todd McFarlane created a new superhero character called Spawn. Five years later, director Mark A.Z. Dippé and screenwriter Alan B. McElroy brought Spawn to the screen in a PG-13 rated movie that didn’t go over well with a lot of fans. There were rumblings of a sequel for years after that, but nothing ever happened. Back around 2005, McFarlane announced he was going to make sure a new Spawn movie was going to be made, even if he had to produce, direct, and finance it himself. For nearly twenty years, he has been slowly pushing that project forward… but there is some level of hope that we might finally see the new Spawn sometime in 2025, so we figured we should put together a list of Everything We Know About the Spawn Reboot.

If there's one actress whose name is synonymous with the "Halloween" franchise, created by director John Carpenter in 1978, it's Jamie Lee Curtis. If there's another, it's Danielle Harris. Curtis holds the record for most "Halloween" movie appearances with six film, not counting archival footage, and the late Donald Pleasance is in five (though his likeness was used in the new "Halloween" trilogy). Harris, however, appearing in four "Halloween" movies, is the only actress to play two different characters in the franchise, and she did so by never taking no for an answer. When conditions were wrong, she walked, and when arbitrary directorial edicts threatened to block her, she acted her way back in with the best audition.
Harris was a young child when she first encountered Michael Myers. What happened to that little girl? She grew up, but she never stopped working. These days, she's a mother in real life,...

After working together on the 2021 version of Wrong Turn, director Mike P. Nelson and screenwriter Alan B. McElroy are re-teaming for the Brazil-set creature feature Titan – and Deadline reports that Kiana Madeira of the Fear Street trilogy and Jessica Rothe of the Happy Death Day movies are set to star in the film!
The story Titan is set against the backdrop of Brazil’s Curuçá River in the present day. When a team of young doctors embark on a local humanitarian mission through the Amazon rainforest, it soon becomes clear that not everyone – or everything – is happy to see them. Their arrival draws the attention of an ancient predator, the “Boiúna”. This ancient killer, dominant on land and water, clashes to reclaim the jungle. The ensuing fight for survival blurs the roles of hunter, prey, and hero.
The film is coming our way from the Resident Evil franchise makers at Constantin Film and Jb Pictures.

Ah the early 2000s. The Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube were the hottest videogame consoles around. Limp Bizkit, Smash Mouth, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, and Usher were ruling the airwaves and little did we know we would be blessed with tons of horror video game movie adaptations as well. Granted, some weren’t that great, looking at you House of the Dead, Doom and Alone in the Dark. But there also were some fun films from this genre…Silent Hill and Resident Evil. At the time, both weren’t exactly loved by critics, but they did have their fans and have each spawned sequels. Today, we’re looking at the first Resident Evil (watch it Here) on this episode of Horror Revisited.

The episode of Revisited covering Wrong Turn 2: Dead End was Written by Emilie Black, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Narrated by Niki Minter, Produced by Tyler Nichols and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
A long, long time ago, in a state deep in the woods, a bunch of people were eaten by cannibal hillbillies in a film called Wrong Turn. Soon, the locals to where the film was taking place got very angry about the depiction of their fellow mountain and wood residents, which they thought gave them a bad name. Horror fans responded by seeing the film anyways, making it a minor hit. The first film had a budget of $12.6 million and made $28.7 million at the box office. While this may lead to a sequel at times, it was not a given. Fast forward to 4 years later and we are gifted with the first of a long series of sequels.

The Spawn reboot has been in development hell for so long at this point that many fans have practically given up on ever seeing it happen, but the latest update on the project seems fairly promising. Following the failures of the 1997 feature film adaptation of the comic book created by Todd McFarlane, there have been multiple efforts to get an unconnected reboot off the ground. At one point, Jamie Foxx boarded the long-gestating project with plans to star as the titular character, and in 2017, it was reported that McFarlane would direct the reboot for producer Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions.
In the years since, McFarlane has suggested he's no longer serving as director. He also said that Foxx is still on board and teased that more A-list actors will be added to the project. In a new interview with ComicBook.com, Blum says that the film is far from canceled, despite the lack of progress,...

Alan B. McElroy, the writer of Wrong Turn (2003) and Wrong Turn (2021), wants to make more sequels to the latter's reboot. McElroy is a screenwriter whose big break was Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Recently, when Entertainment Weekly looked back on the Wrong Turn franchise, McElroy told the outlet that the idea for the first film was inspired by something that happened to him in real life.
McElroy and his wife were driving to the airport to catch an early morning flight to Jamaica for a vacation when they were caught in a traffic jam. Worried about missing their flight, they consulted a map and took a small side road. "As we're doing that, in the dark, in a snowstorm, we're thinking, 'Is this a smart idea?' Anything could go wrong!" From this experience, McElroy began to develop a short film that would serve as the genesis for the series.

The Wrong Turn franchise is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, with that original backwoods horror movie in 2003 spawning six follow-up films to date. The first five sequels were direct-to-video installments that became the very definition of “diminishing returns” – beyond Joe Lynch’s standout Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, that is – and the most recent installment was a reboot that came along in 2021. Directed by Mike P. Nelson, Wrong Turn completely freed itself from the past, and as a result was the best film since the original.
So what’s next for the Wrong Turn franchise? Speaking with Entertainment Weekly for a must-read 20th anniversary retrospective piece that just went up this week, Wrong Turn creator Alan B. McElroy reveals that he’d like to make two sequels to the reboot. McElroy wrote the script to the 2021 movie, the first time he was directly involved in any of the follow-ups.

Today, May 30th, marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the backwoods slasher movie Wrong Turn, and to celebrate Entertainment Weekly has published an article that looks back at the making of the film, from the real-life moment that inspired Alan B. McElroy to write the screenplay (he and his wife were stuck in a winter traffic jam and decided to take a side road detour) through the hiring of Rob Schmidt to direct the film (he chose it over a Hellraiser sequel), the casting of the killers, and the tricks Stan Winston’s FX team did on the set. The article also gives a nod to the five sequels that followed – and to the 2021 reboot, which was also written by McElroy. While being interviewed, McElroy mentioned that he’s hoping to make two sequels to the reboot.

David Gordon Green's "Halloween Ends" caps what is known as the "H40" trilogy, breathing new life into the Michael Myers-centered "Halloween" franchise that has chugged along since John Carpenter's original horror film in 1978.
In the new trilogy, Myers — or The Shape, as he was referred to in Carpenter and Debra Hill's script for the o.g. The Resident Evil franchise is responsible for some of the most chilling moments in interactive media, forcing players to confront man-eating biohazards since the mid 90s. This massive success is ongoing, with new sequels and remakes releasing pretty much every year, but what I think is amazing is that this series of games with little to no regard for conventional storytelling is somehow the franchise that spawned seven big-screen adaptations, a handful of animated films and a short-lived TV show. Meanwhile, there’s still no sign of that Metal Gear Solid movie!
Don’t get me wrong, the Resident Evil games boast plenty of memorable characters with interesting backstories, but these titles have always been more about the player-driven narrative derived from personally outsmarting Umbrella and escaping horrific situations rather than any cohesive yarn. That’s why it’s no surprise that the first Resident Evil movie actually has very...

The Halloween franchise gets a lot of attention during the month of October, and while fans are revisiting the past films and watching the new one, Halloween Ends (read our review Here), in theatres and on the Peacock streaming service, we decided this was a good time to dig into the making of one of the Halloween films with a new episode of our Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? video series. The movie being covered this time around is my personal favorite of the sequels, 1988’s Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (watch it Here) – and you can find out all about the film’s development and production by checking out the video embedded above!
Directed by Dwight H. Little from a screenplay by Alan B. McElroy, Halloween 4 has the following synopsis, lifted from the back of the VHS release:
Ten years ago he changed the face of Halloween.

A decade after Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) set himself and Michael Myers ablaze at the end of "Halloween II," a comatose Michael Myers finally awakes during an ambulance transfer from Ridgemont Federal Sanitarium back to Smith's Grove Sanitarium in 1988's "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers." The trigger: overhearing ambulance personnel reveal that he has a living relative. Jamie Lloyd, his niece and daughter of Laurie Strode (played by Jaime Lee Curtis in the first two films) lives with foster parents in Myers' hometown of Haddonfield Il. Consequentially, he returns to kill her.
I'm that one hard-to-please "Halloween" fan who unfairly compares any sequel and remake to John Carpenter's 1978's masterpiece. My qualms with "Halloween 4" primarily lie with The Shape. The masked, mechanic suit-wearing Michael Myers played by George P. Wilber neither looked nor moved like Nick Castle's portrayal of the character from the original. Plus, the...

Much has been made about George Romero‘s legendary Japanese commercial for Resident Evil 2, but at least that was filmed. George Romero’s Resident Evil film, however, is a different story. We talked about this ultimate “What if?” a few years ago, and now thanks to Jason Bareford (George’s Production Assistant) and director Brandon Salisbury, we’ll finally be getting George A. Romero’s Resident Evil, a long-overdue documentary on the film that could’ve been.
Per Dawn of the Discs on Twitter, images were snapped of the upcoming documentary about Romero’s never-filmed Resident Evil project, which was revealed during the recent Creature Feature Weekend in Gettysburg, Pa. In an interview with The Resident Evil Podcast, Salisbury stated that he wanted to pay homage to Romero’s style and the game itself with George A. The long-gestating Spawn reboot is finally back on track with a new screenwriter in place. Brian Tucker, best known for penning the 2013 crime thriller Broken City with Russell Crowe and Mark Wahlberg, has reportedly signed on to write the script for the live-action Spawn movie. The creator of the comic and character, Todd McFarlane, is also attached as director. Jason Blum will produce for Blumhouse alongside McFarlane with Carla Hacken executive producing.
This incarnation of Spawn has been in development since 2017, but for various reasons, production just can't seem to get started. It had previously been reported that Jamie Foxx would star as the titular vigilante with Jeremy Renner in a supporting role as a detective, though it's not clear if they're still involved now that several years have passed. The actors had originally agreed to get on board based on the initial script by McFarlane, but they might be...

To say that remakes suck is very easy to say. There are plenty of examples to show just how classics should not be touched. Remakes have their place in the world of film though, and help new people discover films they never knew existed. Then a movie comes along like Wrong Turn that makes the brave step of being different and being surprisingly good.
A group of friends hiking on the Appalachian Trail take a wrong turn and find themselves in trouble. A few week later one of the friend’s fathers takes the same trail to find out what happened to her…
My synopsis of the film is brief and not highly informative for a point, and that is that this is a movie you really need to go into cold.

The new Wrong Turn reboot takes many wrong turns, using its prolific title as a sign post for what resides ahead. This is not the Wrong Turn you know. And some may say it resembles the iconic horror franchise in name only. Be warned, Director Mike P. Nelson is not interested in giving us bloodthirsty backwoods mutants with a taste for human flesh. His new revisionist take on the material is grounded in pain-soaked reality, creating something unique within the slasher genre. We recently caught up with the filmmaker and members of his cast to discuss this completely stripped-down reimagining of a classic, which has been rebuilt almost entirely from scratch.
Backwoods terror and never-jangling suspense meet when Jen (Charlotte Vega) and a group of friends set out to hike the Appalachian Trail. Despite warnings to stick to the trail, the hikers stray off course, and cross into land inhabited by The Foundation,...

I never thought I would miss those inbred hillbilly freaks as much as I do right now…
Back in 2003, director Rob Schmidt and writer Alan B. McElroy dropped Wrong Turn on the world and took the “lost in the woods” horror drama to the next level. Introducing us to Three-Fingers, Saw-Tooth and One-Eye, West Virginia’s newest favorite family. Wrong Turn would also cement Eliza Dushku and Desmond Harrington as would be stars. I, honestly, bloody love that first movie and found it genuinely scary at the time, yeah it spawned about seven hundred and thirty three sequels that all pretty much sucked in comparison but they have remained a guilty pleasure in part due to my love of that original movie.

In 2003, writer Alan B. McElroy and director Rob Schmidt introduced an early aughts backwoods slasher that launched a six-film franchise. The setup was simple; a group of unwitting tourists or passersby fall prey to a clan of inbred cannibals. Nearly twenty years later, McElroy returns to the series he created to retool and reboot, giving Wrong Turn a wildly divergent […]...

The Wrong Turn reboot is set to arrive in theaters later this month for a special one-night-only event. Saban Films, the studio behind the upcoming entry in the horror franchise, has partnered with Fathom Events for the special screenings. These screenings will take place on Tuesday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m. local time, and tickets are on sale now. Showings will be taking place all across the U.S., offering horror fans the chance to see the carnage unfold on the big screen.
Tickets were recently made available by Fathom Events for the Wrong Turn screenings. The movie, it is worth noting, is R-rated, meaning they won't be holding back on the gore this time around. This is also the first time that an entry in the series will be making a theatrical debut since the original was released back in 2003. Mike P. Nelson is in the director's chair. The...

After almost 20 years, the Wrong Turn franchise is returning to theaters. 2003’s Eliza Dushku-fronted slasher flick became a sleeper hit that spawned five – yes, five – straight-to-dvd sequels. The last installment released back in 2014, but the series has been rebooted now and you can catch the seventh entry next month.
In 2021’s Wrong Turn, Charlotte Vega stars as Jen, who embarks on a hike along the Appalachian Trail with her friends. Unfortunately, and despite dire warnings to stick to the path, the gang soon veers off course and crosses into the land belonging to The Foundation, a hidden community of mountain dwellers who will protect their way of life at any cost. Will Jen’s father (Stranger Things star Matthew Modine) be able to reach them in time?

Saban Films has revealed the first trailer for the Wrong Turn reboot which was formerly known as Wrong Turn: The Foundation. The horror franchise has been going strong since the original hit theaters in 2003. It inspired a series of five sequels but the series has been dormant since 2014. No longer. The horror is heading back to the woods for a new round of cannibalistic craziness. And it will be getting a limited engagement on the big screen.
There is no word on how soon the movie will be made available digitally but those who are feeling eager to see the return of the franchise will have the chance to do so in theaters for one night only. Saban Films has announced a partnership through Fathom Events that will bring Wrong Turn to theaters for a special one-night event on Tuesday, January 26. Since the first one came out in 2003, we've seen six movies released in the Wrong Turn franchise (with Joe Lynch's Wrong Turn 2: Dead End still one of my favorite horror sequels ever), and early next year the cannibal franchise will be rebooted with a new Wrong Turn, which is teased in its official trailer ahead of its January release.

Saban Films has acquired the rights to two titles from Munich-based “Resident Evil” producer Constantin Film.

[To celebrate the release of their new book, Taking Shape II: The Lost Halloween Sequels, authors Dustin McNeill & Travis Mullins share the top 10 craziest cameos from lost Halloween sequels that were never filmed in this special guest article!]
As is, the Halloween franchise isn’t much known for its cameos. Sure, you’ve got Weird Al and Chris Hardwick in Rob Zombie’s Halloween II, but otherwise they’re more subtle—like Pj Soles as the voice of the teacher in 2018’s Halloween. Not that the filmmakers haven’t tried for more ambitious guest appearances over the years. From Howard Stern to Mike Myers, they definitely have! It’s just that these ideas—and sometimes, even their respective films—haven’t all panned out.
In writing our newest book—Taking Shape II: The Lost Halloween Sequels—we’ve discovered a handful of surprising cameo suggestions tossed around. In honor of the book’s release, gathered here are the ten wildest “lost sequel” cameo ideas from the Halloween films that never were.

The Wrong Turn series, featuring mutant cannibals hunting unsuspecting travellers in the mountains of West Virginia using an assortment of improvised traps and weaponry, is a franchise that even some hardcore horror fans are surprised to learn is still going. Nevertheless, the seventh installment The Foundation might possibly be getting a release soon.
All movie releases are currently variable due to, well, everything, and director Mike P. Nelson was recently asked about whether we would see the film any time soon. Here’s what he had to say:
“I honestly have very little news, but I can say we just completely finished the movie this past week and it is wild! The next steps will be in the hands of our distributor.”
So, while there’s no official date for the movie’s release, that it’s a finished product goes a long way to its appearance coming sooner rather than later,...

Next year's Wrong Turn remake has gotten its first official poster along with a new title. As shown on the poster, the upcoming reboot will be called Wrong Turn: The Foundation. Otherwise, the black-and-white poster doesn't reveal much else, bearing only the silhouette of a broken pair of antlers. This goes in line with the new villains of the series, as some are listed on IMDb with names like Deer Skull, Ram Skull, and Wild Board Skull. It's just enough to make big fans of the series excited for the franchise's return to theaters, which will be happening sometime in 2020, although an exact release date still has yet to be revealed.

That's a wrap on the Wrong Turn remake, as the upcoming horror movie has finished shooting in Ohio. Over the weekend, director Mike P. Nelson took to Instagram to let his followers know the movie has completed filming and is now headed into the editing process. Along with a photo of the set with a bloody hand in the foreground, here's what Nelson said in the caption of the image.
"The last three months have been absolutely insane. I can't wait to show you all what we have been creating. Movie #2 blessed me yet again with such an amazing crew and a cast that carried the weight of this beast. Long nights in the woods, moldy caverns, moss covered boulders and skulls was our world for the hasty and dense 26 day shoot.
This project was also special as it reunited me with my good friend, Dp and collaborator Nick Junkersfeld.
