Biography

    • Born in Dublin, Ireland, Dave McCrea attended the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin where he worked with the finest teachers of the Dublin theatre world. Upon graduation, he co-founded Ether 4 Lunch Theatre Company with classmate Stuart Townsend and performed as The Kid in Sam Shepard's The Unseen Hand in Ether 4 Lunch's first production. He also worked in established Dublin theatres such as The Gaiety with esteemed theatre director Joe Dowling (of The Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis), and the Project Arts Center. He then moved to San Francisco where he worked closely with director David Gebroe, with lead roles in If You Need Oil, a 38-minute black comedy that hit the festival circuit and The Homeboy, a comedy feature that went to PPV for 2 months as well as onto Netflix. He also got a supporting role in Jordan Mechner's (Prince of Persia) first foray into advanced gaming playing a Serbian terrorist in The Last Express. Working on Don Johnson's show Nash Bridges, as well as with Ben Gazzara and Karen Black on an indie feature shot in the Bay Area, he moved to L.A. and was represented by Dragon Talent, the go-to agency for hipsters. At Dragon, he appeared in 3 episodes of Beverly Hills 90210 and the Superbowl Coca-Cola commercial directed by Samuel Bayer among other credits. He can also be seen in one of Green Day's biggest hits "Good Riddance (Time of your Life)" video which won Best Alternative Video at the MTV VMA Awards. After working in Los Angeles on commercials, TV and independent film, he relocated to New York where he self-produced and directed a starring vehicle - a romantic comedy entitled "Crush Landing". He then signed with 90210 Talent where he worked on the Daredevil series on Netflix. He also created a three-part web series called Hits in New York which he was the lead in and worked with Elvire Emanuelle (Netflix's First Match) as well as co-writing and directing a short film in Denver, Colorado. He got a masters in Directing Fiction from Central Film School in London and is now focused on writing and directing.
