Clem McCarthy is a renowned American horse racing caller, sportscaster, and public announcer who also narrated for Pathé's RKO Newsreels. During the golden age of radio, a time when people around the world participated in major happenings of the day by listening to live audio broadcasts at home or in animated public social gatherings, his voice brought to life some of the most historic moments in sports, such as Joe Louis' unforgettable rematch round one knockout of Germany's Max Schmeling, and Seabiscuit's breathtaking Pimlico Special win over War Admiral. Documenting some of the most important events in sports history not only in the United States, but also internationally, McCarthy's "whiskey tenor" has inspired generations.
