Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone in Sexy Beast (2000)
Sexy Beast | Trailer released for Paramount+ prequel series
Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone in Sexy Beast (2000)
A prequel television series to classic crime drama Sexy Beast will stream on Paramount+. Here’s the trailer…

Writer and director Jonathan Glazer is currently enjoying a plaudits for his Holocaust drama The Zone Of Interest. Based on the 2014 novel by Martin Amis, it follows Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Hess and his wife as they try to build a life living next door to the concentration camp.

Chosen as the British entry for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards, the film is due to be released in UK cinemas on the 2nd February.

Astonishingly, Glazer has only made four feature films in his career thus far – Sexy Beast in 2000, Birth in 2004, Under The Skin in 2013 and Zone Of Interest. Sexy Beast continues to have notable impact too, staying in the cultural conversation long after it was released. The film followed Ray Winstone as Gary ‘Gal’ Dove, a criminal...

Damian Lewis and Mark Rylance in Wolf Hall (2015)
Playground Developing Adaptation of ‘The Last of the Mohicans’ Novels for the BBC (Exclusive)
Damian Lewis and Mark Rylance in Wolf Hall (2015)
“Wolf Hall” producer Playground is developing a series for the BBC based on James Fenimore Cooper’s historical series of novels known collectively as the “Leatherstocking Tales,” which includes “The Last of the Mohicans.”

Playground, run by former HBO exec Colin Callender, is working on a pilot script for the project, which is being set up as a returning series. “The Last of the Mohicans” is the second and most famous of Fenimore Cooper’s five-book series and has been adapted for the big screen several times, including the 1992 film by Michael Mann starring Daniel Day-Lewis.

The stories are set between 1740 and 1806, and chronicle life among Native Americans and white pioneers on the New York State frontier. Their world is on the cusp of change, and the struggle between the British and French to take control of the region forms a high-stakes political backdrop. The novels’ hero is Hawk-Eye, who...

U.K. Talent Agency Begins Developing Film and TV Projects, Launches New Slate (Exclusive)
The increasing demand for original film and TV content has resulted in players targeting earlier stages of the production process. Now talent agencies, in both the U.K. and the U.S., are arriving earlier to the dance.

The latest agency to dive into content creation is The Artists Partnership (Tap), which is launching The Development Partnership (Tdp) with a slate that includes a new take on Cyrano de Bergerac from Joseph Fiennes, a drama series with Anna Friel and a film project about a real-life con man, with James Norton.

Tap, which is part of the Marcus Evans group, aims to focus on nascent development; its new sister operation, Tdp, is working with clients from the main agency and its book-to-film department, then going out to find production partners. The Tdp team is aware that there are some sticky questions over agents getting into production – the effect it has...

The show also resembles Dexter and Breaking Bad in ways, with some gruesome scenes not for the squeamish, as … Continue reading →
