It unfolded like a Greek play, from the opening commendation ceremony—a scene scarcely more ironic had Mark Antony popped in to present Cottan with the award for most ‘honourable man’—to the death of Lindsay Denton, a conflicted hero whose fatal flaw finally proved such.

Denton’s tragic error was taking a shortcut to what she perceived as justice. You could say her fate was sealed the moment she broke faith with the law to see Tommy Hunter punished. Everything that happened to her since the ambush resulted from that mistake and her subsequent denial. She was Oedipus. With a fringe.

The 2013 Eisner Award Winners have been announced at San Diego Comic-Con with Chris Ware leading the wins for his celebrated work Building Stories, alongside Brian K Vaughan and Fiona Staples’ Saga which also won a number of awards.

The Eisners are awarded each year at the San Diego Comic-Con and are the most prestigious awards in the comics industry, being the comics equivalent of the Oscars.

The Eisners are named after Will Eisner, one of the most celebrated artist/writers in comics whose works included creating the superhero series The Spirit as well as his masterpiece, A Contract with God, one of the best books of the 20th century.

This year saw artist/writer Chris Ware pick up the lion’s share of the awards for his book/construction project Building Stories, winning Best New Graphic Album, Best Writer/Artist, Best Lettering, and Best Publication Design.

Last week's concluding scene on The Lying Game left us with a lot of questions for Ted Mercer. Mainly: why was Ted visiting Derek Rogers grave? 

In "The Grave Truth," we got more answers than we could've bargained for. Then again, after the ending scene, my head is spinning with a whole new set of questions! Let's break it all down.

Emma (posing as Sutton) confronted Ted at Derek's grave. She wouldn't give him his hospital badge back without getting some answers first. I have to say she really has some balls considering Ted was one of the main suspects of The Lying Game Season 2.

Alec had a great point when he stopped Dan from choking Ted out at the police station: Ted may make a lot of mistakes, but look at the guy, he's not the killer. Ted was practically crapping his pants!

After its upcoming Halloween special (Tues., Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. Et), "Pretty Little Liars" will return on, Tues., Jan. 8 at 8 p.m. Et for the second half of its third season, in which Mona (Janel Parrish) has been released from Radley and is headed back to Rosewood, much to Aria (Lucy Hale), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Hanna's (Ashley Benson) dismay. Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin will also appear on upcoming episodes.

In the lying-themed evening, "The Lying Game" will return with all-new Season 2 episodes on Tues., Jan. 8 at 9 p.m. Et. If box office returns were the sole measurement of quality, then Seth McFarlane's foul-mouthed stuffed bear in "Ted" is the summer's reigning mascot. Truth be told, however, "Ted" suffers from the same loose comedic randomness that has restricted McFarlane's television work from gaining traction beyond a sizable army of fans. The foul-mouthed stuffed bear delivers oodles of humor largely based around the dissonance between his cute appearance and unruly behavior (the bear does coke, the bear screws women, and so on). But when it comes his longstanding relationship with lifetime pal John (Mark Wahlberg), the requisite chemistry rings hollow under a steaming pile of jokes. Ted may have plenty of energy, but he lacks both purpose and soul. That's less of a problem for the automated half of the buddy movie equation in "Robot and Frank," a delicate, contained dramedy hitting theaters this week. So they're really making an Alf movie? Ha! I kill me! A couple of months ago, it was being reported that Alf creator Paul Fusco was in the process of shopping around a movie based on the wildly popular '80s sitcom. While the recent wave of '80s nostalgia on the big screen did seem to support to such a ridiculous idea, I honestly didn't think it would ever amount to anything. It seemed like just another case of washed up star clinging desperately to the one thing that made them famous many years ago. But apparently Fusco has proven me wrong because this week Sony announced that they have officially picked up the rights to a new Alf movie. There is, however, one big difference: Alf will no longer be a puppet. According to THR, Sony Animation has closed a deal to turn Alf into a live action...

The last time we saw Ashley William’s Victoria on How I Met Your Mother she was escaping her wedding, hand-in-hand with Ted. They were driving off into the sunset, simultaneously evoking a sense a hope and dread. Victoria has always been the closest thing Ted has ever had to “The One,” but we’ve also known for seven years that Victoria is not the titular mother. So while it’s wonderful to see Ted back with Victoria, it will be a short-lived reunion to be sure. So how much longer do these two have together before they say goodbye for the second time?

Ted may be getting the bear’s share of attention right now for Seth MacFarlane, but his animated Fox shows will be back in the spotlight next week at Comic-Con. If you can’t make it all the way to San Diego to attend the panels for these shows, you can at least console yourself by scrolling down this page for an early peek at the posters for Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, and American Dad. Take that, people who don’t have access to a computer!

I enjoyed Ted. On the whole, it’s a fun movie, and I laughed an awful lot, sometimes raucously. I want to make this clear up front because much of this review will sound negative, and I don’t want to leave the impression that I hate Ted. I don’t. But for the most part, what I liked about the movie can be summed up in a sentence, and what I disliked is substantially more complex. All things considered, I weigh the good and bad just about equally on this one, and I even think it’s probably worth a watch for those seeking a fun, lighthearted night at the movies.

Seth MacFarlane fans, of course, are going to love the hell out of Ted, because his voice rings loud and clear through every frame of the movie. I have no qualms saying it’s the best thing the...
