‘Stranger Things’ David Harbour Joins The Picket Line During the SAG-AFTRA Strike
Image
It’s been two weeks since the SAG-AFTRA strike began and the entertainment industry has not been given a break.

Stranger Things star David Harbour was spotted on Monday holding up a picket sign with a fist and “SAG-AFTRA On Strike!” printed on it. He also wore a black SAG-AFTRA Strong shirt.

Other famous faces seen on Monday for the historic strike were Lucy Liu, Paul Giamatti, Carla Gugino and Wednesday‘s Joy Sunday.

Outside of New York City, Harrison Ford’s stunt double, Mike Massa, set himself on fire last week in Atlanta.

It’s unknown how long the strike will last, but SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher suggested that they are prepared to be on strike for months.

In Memoriam 2022: 100 Great Celebrities Who Died In 2022

“We have financially prepared ourselves for the next six months,” Drescher told Today. “And we’re really in it to win it.

Why Hollywood Stuntman Mike Massa Set Himself on Fire
Image
You’ve seen him ripping a motorboat through the canals of Venice, Italy, during the opening heist of The Italian Job, dodging flying cars in the Fast and the Furious films, and doubling for Harrison Ford, most recently in the blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. He was even standing offscreen when Ford accidentally socked co-star Ryan Gosling during filming of Blade Runner 2049, recalling, “Ryan took it like a champ!”

But Mike Massa, a Hollywood stunt performer for three decades, had never received the headlines he did on July 24, when,...

Earlier this month, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) union went on strike after talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) broke down. These discussions mostly centered around protections against the adaptation of AI technology as well as streaming residuals.

At the end of the Atlanta rally, Massa walked on stage while his jacket was ablaze. He posted a video of the event on Instagram, writing, “We are tired of being burned by the AMPTP.

Harrison Ford’s ‘Indiana Jones’ Stunt Double Sets Himself On Fire During SAG-AFTRA Strike Protest: ‘Tired Of Being Burned’
Image
Mike Massa, a veteran Hollywood stuntman who’s credits include “Star Trek”, “The Italian Job” and doubling for Harrison Ford in the last two “Indiana Jones” movie, made a big impression during an Atlanta protest in support of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Stunt performers are members of the Screen Actors Guild, and while many actors have responded with fiery speeches, Massa raised the bar by making his point using actual fire.

Dozens gathered at Fayetteville’s Covert Camera Vehicles to show solidarity, speak out against corporate greed, and watch one particularly enthusiastic protestor (safely) go up in flames.

During a rally on Monday, Entertainment Weekly reported, Massa took to the stage while holding a “SAG-AFTRA on Strike” sign, and proceeded to light himself on fire.

Stunt Performer Mike Massa Sets Himself on Fire for SAG-AFTRA Strike Picket
Image
On Tuesday, July 25th, SAG-AFTRA held its largest rally so far. Later on, at a separate event, stunt performer Mike Massa got onstage and cranked up the heat by setting himself on fire. Massa's (who played Harrison Ford's stunt double in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny) stunt was a part of a rally at Stunts Unlimited.

On Instagram, actress Elena Sanchez shared a video of Massa walking on a truck trailer while set ablaze. Along with the video, the Odd Man Out star wrote, "We are tired of being burned by the AMPTP."

Massa stated, "Proving Stunt People would rather get burned for real than the Metaphorical getting burned by the studios."

Following the rally, the stunt performer took to Instagram to say, "Wanted to give a huge Thank You to Paul Short, Adam Hart, Alex Smith, Cory DeMeyers and Philip Dido for giving their free...

Stunt Performer Sets Himself On Fire To Become The Coolest Striker Ever At SAG Picket Line
Image
Stunt performer Mike Massa made a powerful statement by setting himself on fire at the SAG-AFTRA strike in Atlanta, symbolizing the industry's fight against the AMPTP. The video of Massa engulfed in flames highlights the frustration of entertainment industry unions, who are demanding fair compensation, streaming residuals, and AI regulation. Massa's daring stunt aims to draw attention to the ongoing strike and the need for change in the industry.

The picket lines at the SAG-AFTRA strike recently saw an amazing stunt spectacle. Currently, two different entertainment industry unions - the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) - are striking against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). Their goals are largely overlapping, including fair compensation, proper streaming residuals, and the regulation of the use of artificial intelligence.

On his official Instagram account, stunt performer Mike Massa shared a video of himself taking the...

Harrison Ford’s Stunt Double Sets Himself on Fire at Strike Rally: ‘We Are Tired of Being Burned by AMPTP’ (Video)
Harrison Ford
Veteran stuntman and SAG member Mike Massa, who most recently doubled Harrison Ford on “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” sent a dramatic message to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers by lighting himself on fire while holding a “SAG-AFTRA on Strike” sign at a rally in Atlanta on Monday.

“We are tired of being burned by the AMPTP,” read the caption on the video that was shared to his and stuntwoman Elena Sanchez’s Instagram accounts. A man was positioned behind Massa on the stage to safely put out the flames with a fire extinguisher.

In a second post, the German-born stunt performer wrote, “We wanted to make a statement and I think we did! It was great to see such a great turnout from our local Stunt community, local leadership, and actors who showed up to support us.”

Massa has been nominated for several Taurus...

Stunt Performer Sets Himself on Fire to Support SAG Strike
Image
Since the SAG-AFTRA strike began earlier this month, the focus has largely been on how actors have taken to the picket line. But SAG-AFTRA is also the union for thousands of stunt workers, and on Monday, they held a rally of their own to show support to the union.

Per Atlanta News First, the rally took place Monday afternoon in Fayetteville, Georgia, with members of the state’s stunt community coming to protest for wage increases, residual payments, and protections against artificial intelligence.

“We should share in the successes of our employer when their product goes and they make billions with a ‘B.’ Billions of dollars on the backs of the people who do the work,” SAG-AFTRA local president Eric Goins told Atlanta News First.

During the rally, one stunt performer, Mike Massa, set himself on fire in order to show support for the strike and demonstrate the dangerous scenes...

Jessica Paré at an event for Mad Men (2007)
CBS’ Seal Team resumed Season 3 with a breathless two-parter that first ripped the rug out from under us by putting Havoc itself in the line of fire, and then left viewers with an explosive cliffhanger, when a purely voluntary side op went sideways.

Jessica Paré — after briefly reflecting on the eight-year anniversary of her Mad Men performance of “Zou Bisou Bisou” (post mortemed here) — previewed for TVLine the blame game coming this Wednesday at 9/8c, as a result of that failed mission.

David Giuntoli in Grimm (2011)
'Grimm' preview: Cult pop fave Amy Acker plays a fairy tale spider-woman that you don't want to miss... or kiss.
David Giuntoli in Grimm (2011)
A pop culture week that began with a sneak peek at Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man comes to a close with a scary-fun hour of Grimm (NBC, 9/8c) that could be called “Kiss of the Spider Woman.” Actually, the episode is entitled “Tarantella” and it features actress Amy Acker — a cult pop fave best known for her work in Angel and Alias — as a femme fatale who happens to be an enchanted arachnid known as a “spinnetod.” Said creatures suffer from a rapid-aging condition that can only be managed by killing and feasting on young men via a process that involves perhaps the grossest,...
